There I go blabbering about going to bed at 11pm and then I stayed up the entire night last night. I had too much to think about and the middle of the night is the easiest time to do it because there's less distractions. I laid in bed and stared at the wall, my cat, or the ceiling for 5 hours and just thought about things.

Oddly enough, quite relaxing.

god i cannot STAND laying in bed w too much on my mind, but thats usually cus its ill timed. it would happen whenever i have to get up the next day, which stresses me out :(

My sleep schedule is out of sync with the norm. I usually go to bed sometime between 1am and 4am and wake up sometime between 10am and 1pm. However if I have to do something the next day I will try to go to bed earlier the night before but since I'm so used to sitting up late, it usually takes me more than two hours to get to sleep.

It takes me hours to fall asleep, so i lay awake at night all the time, and if I wake at all during the night that's it, i'm up for good, so lots of times i'm up at like 3am. Not really noctunral nor a morning person, not really an insomniac (i have gone through a few insomniac spells that last for a few weeks, those are horrid), I just dont have the ability to fall asleep easily and to sleep for long periods of time.

Good Lord cut me in. I go to bed around 2:30 to 3:00 in the morning. I am trying to cut that down. But it has been this way for a long time. Old habits are hard to break.

Oh, I can fall asleep in 30 seconds. As soon as I lay down. I don't have narcolepsy or anything, I just drift to sleep incredibly easily.

I stay up late because it's the only goddamned time that I have to myself.
I'm either working all day or just around other people all day. Either way, I can never seem to just be by myself so that I can think and breathe and be at peace.

So as a result, I stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning, even when I have to be up at 7 or 8 the following morning. I short myself on sleep so that I can have alone time. Not a good equation, and certainly not sustainable. Just the way things are right now.

I'm definitely a night owl. My favorite thing is to stay up all night, have breakfast, run a short errand or two, then go to bed.

I do this at least 3 times a week. My husband and I work at night. It's fun eating eggs and toast and talking (or on the weekend's hitting a breakfast buffet) then an hour or so later going to bed. I sleep best in the day because at night the creative juices are really flowing and tend to keep me up.

On summer holidays, I turn nocturnal, simply for the fact that the rest of the family is sleeping at that time...

yeah...turning into a bum...;) Stayed up 'till 7am the other day just reading a steampunk web comic...;)

I'd trade it all for a day job, tho. I've worked grave shift before; it's nice, but I don't know if there's enough of 'em to go around.

I prefer the night. Probably when I'm happiest is when I'm alone in my room, no one will bother me because it's past midnight and I just talk to myself about something I want to think about, finally giving me a break from the endless thought monologue. However, I'm far more likely to get university work done if I get up early so I usually head to bed about 1.30 am.

yeah, i'm usually up til about 2-4am. i have trouble getting to sleep. whether it's minor insomnia or because i'm a night person, idk. i'd stay up later but have to cut it short there otherwise i'd never get any sleep. my parents simply don't understand and love to wake me up in the early mornings. i'm in no way a morning person. when i have to get up in the morning it's like a remake of dawn of the dead. i'm in total zombie mode and feel like i'm going to fall over from exhaustion or like i'm not yet fully conscious. this is even after a full 8 hours of sleep. its ridiculous.

and the only way i can even seem to fall asleep in the first place is when i'm physically and mentally exhausted. prolly why i stay up so late. i just can't really sleep otherwise. my parents just think i'm not trying hard enough. but honestly, it's like my brain doesn't now how to shut itself off and so i stay up late doing something intellectual like reading or internet to wear down my mental faculties until my brain feels effectively numb and tired enough to allow me to drift into unconsciousness.

can anyone relate to this?

Yep.

Sitting up at night? Guess what I'm doing!

It's lonely, but I'm alone even in a crowd. This way at least I don't have to deal with people. Odd, I'd like to be able to socialise better, but I still need huge amount of downtime from people and taking advantage of their sleeping absence is the best way to get the chance to chill down.
