It dosn't have to take anything away. I speed read but I don't speed read everything like poetry or a novel, no way! But for more boring stuff that I do have to read, like assigned reading, you better believe I speed read it. It has helped me so much. infact i tried a speed reading course online and it did wonders (rev it up reading). Don't know it until you try it. Unless you have in that case, try again! :]

I used to be a normal reader, but over time I've gotten quicker and quicker. I speed read rather unintentionally :D For example I read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in around 3 hours. (It's over 700 pages)
