When I first joined, I got the impression that people who had been members longer and had higher post counts were taken more seriously in discussions. I guess that people felt more comfortable around them because they knew them better, but, still, it made me kind of wary.

But this place seems friendlier now. At the time that I joined, there was a lot of discussion among longer-term members about the arrival of undiagnosed people ("they might not really have an ASD!") and new members who were brave enough to talk openly about having been diagnosed with something else (which provoked the reaction, "We now have people with other mental illnesses! Oh my!"). Actually, there was a lot of drama going on here in general when I joined . . .

I just figured that eventually the drama would die down and that people would take me more seriously if I just kept posting. Which turned out to be true.

Oh, and to answer the OP's question . . . No, I don't really judge people by their post counts. I tend to refrain from having opinions on people I don't know very well - which would be just about everyone I know online.

There are. And a lot of people who post without reading. So it evens out.

The ones with a lower post count, I think they aren't big participants here and they don't like to read that much but I also go by the date they have joined to know. Like if someone joined here four years ago and they only have over 200 posts, not much of a participant here and maybe they don't come here much.

I don't think the number of posts are neccessarily proportional to the number of visits to WP. I check out WP three times a day on the average day. I'll spend 2 hours reading the latest posts and then leave. I just don't post much (approx 0.83 times per day) I like the reading. There is a mountain biking forum out here in KC. I have been going to it every night like clockwork for three years. I don't even have an account set up there. I just read and go. So there are some folks who come allot and just linger behind the scenes.

I would never judge someone by how much they post or don't. Such a judgement would seem to based upon ignorance and lack of personal knowledge. How could one make a judgement based on one external item? Doesn't make sense to me.

I am actually envious of those with higher post counts. I know allot of people who struggle socially in the real face to face world, who thrive on the anonymity of the internet. Not me. I don't find the interaction any easier. And life moves on...

I was once judged as some loser who didn't have a life by one of the members, here the time that I've posted about having more posts than we had, members.
