The possibility of Hell does not exist if you have faith, however, so what are you really scared of?
The possibility of Hell because your faith is misguided or the possibility that there is no Heaven, even if you remain faithfull?

There is misunderstanding here. The Christian faith acknowledges that Heaven and hell exist. For those who accept Jesus as their savior go to Heaven. And for those that do not accept Jesus as their savior go to hell. That is what the Bible teaches.

No missunderstanding. If you abide by the Christian faith then you won't go to Hell, therefore the possibility of Hell is nonexistant if you have faith. Unless there's some loophole I missed that allows for a faithfull Christian to still go to Hell.

No you misunderstand what I am saying. Heaven and hell both exist as told by the Bible. If a person accepts Christ---they go the Heaven. If they don't accept Christ---they go to hell. A Christian goes to Heaven and thus avoids hell. But hell is still a place---but the Christian no longer has to worry about going there. What else needs to be understood on this. I recommend you read a Bible if you want to learn more.

However, you also said:

Yes, I believe in God. I am a Christian.

To test my faith, I ask myself this question, "If I did not believe in God and accept Jesus Christ as my personal savior, would I be afraid to die?" Yes, I would be afraid.

Therefore, I have faith in the existence of God according to the Holy Bible. I have faith in the miracles of Jesus and of the Resurrection of Jesus. I accept Jesus Christ as my personal savior---not out of fear, but out of the love He has for me.

Which is contradictory, because your faith seems to be dependant on your fear of Hell yet you also claim that you're a Christian because of Jesus' love for you and not out of fear.

I'm simply trying to verrify which it is.

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[2]

You are trolling me.

Umm, you do know the other Descartes came up with one of the lamest proofs for god ever, right? :P

Personally, I'm a deist but I don't rule out the possibility of personal, divine intervention from time to time....

Like God told Bender, "When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all."

I'm pretty sure I do misunderstand. From what you're saying, what I get is that your beliefs are based on what the Bible tells you, and you know that the Bible isn't lying because you'd be scared if it was. Correct me if I'm getting this all backwards.

Since some of you don't understand what I am trying to say---just read the Bible.

I've read quite enough of the Bible, thank you. The book can't verify its own credibility. And a lot of it is simply laughable. It's a bunch of random bronze age writings. Nothing special about it other than the fact that it's very old and fairly well preserved, but there's very little verifiable truth in it. So I'm asking you what has you so convinced. It can't be the book itself. It's not a credible source. It was written by people who didn't even know the Earth is round, or what an atom is. Parts of it may be inspired by actual events, but it was common practice in those days to use hyperbole, symbolism and magical nonsense to make the journalism and historical documents more interesting. Just because Nazis appear in Hellboy comics and Nazis were real doesn't have to mean that Hellboy is real.

It’s like Pascal said, “The heart has reasons that reason cannot know.”

If you want to try and maintain that reason alone is the basis of justified belief, you’re going to end up like the real Descartes—trapped in your own skull.

I bet, if you take a cold hard look at yourself, you'll find plenty of irrational beliefs.

Apparently I have something you don't---faith in my God.

You will have to sort out your own beliefs---which you apparently already have.

I have a personal relationship with God. And I am forever thankful for that.

As I lay on a deathbed in 2004, on the brink of death hooked up to morphine, a minister prayed by my side. At that moment, God became my doctor and I walked out of that hospital.

In 1986, a Gideon handed me a Bible. I carried it all day. On my way home I got in a tornado coming home from college. My VW Beetle should have turned completely over---but I was spared. I credit God.

As I have answered all of your questions that have questioned me, I have nothing else to say because the truth of the Bible now lies in your hands. You are free to interpret it as you so choose.

This thread was a poll established by someone else. It asked us if we believed in God. I answered truthfully. I am not questioning your beliefs, but you are mine. And I have told you my answers as clearly as I can about a mysterious topic known as religion. It is difficult to understand. But I have my faith, and nothing can take that away from me because I have felt the hand of God on my life. You just know when it is God.

And what is so amazing is that the more I am questioned about such matters as religion, the stronger my faith becomes. That is the hand of God.

Now, I am going to get cleaned up and get ready to eat pizza with my family :D .

I just think if God was a compassionate entity then he would not allow natural disasters on the scale of the one that hit Haiti to happen. As humans with a conscience it would be totally unthinkable for us to punish the poorest and weakest countries in that manner as that so called "act of God" did. So may best means to come to grips with it is to just accept God's complete absence and believe in what I call dumb forces of nature such as energy releasing along fault lines. Kind of like you get if you try to pull out a jammed draw with your foot anchored against the cabinet and when you apply enough force it comes out a lot more violently than you planned as you fly backwards across the room with a draw full of socks all over you. That sought of principle for earthquakes is a better explanation than "God did it"

Why do people believe that god should intervene to save human lives, as in Haiti? I don't know how that rumour got started that God's responsible.

An Earthquake is an earthquake. More people die of natural causes each year but no one blames god for that. If earthquakes didn't happen, continents would stagnate. The world is always in flux. It's not a precious bubble dome where all your worries are taken care of.

Tornadoes happen. Earthquakes happen. Massive famine happens. People die be it from extreme events or peacefully in their sleep. People are saved either by their ingenuity or random luck.

If both sides of a football game pray to god to win, who deserves to win? They can't both win.

I suggest people should stop worrying about what actions god controls - if God caused an earthquake or didn't stop an earthquake, it's too late anyhow. Start thinking about your own actions instead.

Now you're the one missunderstanding me. It was a simple question, to which "read the bible" is not an acceptable answer because I have done so several times yet I still do not know the answer.

I gave you my answer to the best of my ability. You clearly have your opinion of religion and I have mine. I feel you are trying to get me upset and provoked emotionally on a topic as personal as religion. I suggest to leave it at that. I obviously cannot answer your question in a manner to satisfy you. This is a poll---a vote---I have voted and defended my stance on religion. That's all I can do.
