B9 I'm not quite sure why, but those are definitely jokes ! They made me laugh.
Laughter derived from specifically directed intention : Is this an Aspi first?
Could be "one small step" level stuff you've got going on there.
Will the NT's find them funny?
Will NT's find them funny? I do. But then, I have a frame of reference in my daughter and the people here. They are only funny to those who have a frame of reference.
They are good jokes because they follow the tried and true format of good jokes:
1)choose a subject that the audience is familiar with
2)set up an expectation
3)upend that expectation at the very last minute, forcing the audience to back track for a couple seconds to figure out exactly where the expectation got upended- the "aha--funny" moment is the moment the person figures that out. If it takes more than a couple seconds, the joke isn't funny. If it takes no time at all, the joke also isn't funny because it's too obvious.
b9's "trees for the forest" joke works brilliantly in this regard.
The "reciprocate" joke doesn't work as well unless the person is also fairly familiar with mathematics. I am not, so it didn't work for me. I didn't understand it until I read the explanation which meant that it took about 5 seconds for me to get it, by which time all the humour had leaked out. If I were an NT mathematician with AS colleagues I'd probably be rolling on the floor laughing.
J6chan's "Holy smokes" joke also works brilliantly and for the same reason as the "trees for the forest" joke. Both these jokes upend popular phrases and re-purpose them to point out differences between AS and NT neurology.
