I have fun on my birthdays. I always go to Denny's for a free supper, with my friends. :)

I don't see the point in gifts, either. If I want/need something, I'll just go out and buy it.

Agreed. My extended family celebrates the Christmas holiday each year, everybody exchanges gifts, and it happens at one of my mother or her sisters' houses - it rotates. Sometimes it happens as late as early January for whatever reason. I've made two requests:

- Celebrate it on Christmas. I get Christmas off work most years. I do not get January 5 off work.
- Let's not exchange gifts, and instead cook something.

I don't enjoy. I think One year more, still alone, no changes! And nobody enjoys and want to meet me. Somewhat sad day.

Somebody has birthday 20th of January too?

I don't remember my age very well. I find myself having to mentaly put together if I'm 31 or 32 currently lately, because I forget often. *looks at age posting* ok 31. It's no big deal to me, but I do love eating out and getting presents.

I kind of agree with this one (on the outside it's ya TGIF restraunt/gifts etc. but sometimes on the inside&outside I cry since another year has passed) I do this on Christmas for 5 years now Xmas 2005-2009 (OMG another year has actually gone by AND OMG another year has gone by literally for me I'm another year older.) :-(

I dislike family birthdays simply because I have to buy gifts I cant afford and I hardly talk to anyone at parties. They are usually disappointed with the gifts I give them. I know based on their expression on their faces.

The varying view points and reasoning behind them are interesting because there is almost a pattern. It seems that the people who are swamped with pressure or gifts or parties/gatherings do not celebrate as much as the people who are more alone. :( On the other hand, it looks like there are happy party celebrators here.

I can relate to both of the quotes above.

I did come up with a way to tell my age (because I always forgot) when I was a little kid. It worked because I was born in a year that ended in 0, so I could just be aware of the year and the last number would be my age. It worked until I turned 10. Now I have to pay attention to decades! !

I used to enjoy my birthday, because my wife would take me to a really nice restaurant.

Unfortunately the restaurant closed.

I don't like birthdays.
The kids in school want to sing the happy birthday song for me, and I hate it.

I do that too, because my birthday and other days that do not follow my usual schedule tend to freak me out

My birthday is around Christmas time. I never enjoyed the holidays or birthdays. It's a very lonely time for me.

The center of attention isn't your favorite hang out.
