this failure to communicate reminds me of an old kurt vonnegut story about an astronaut named zog, who is from the planet mongo, where the natives communicate by means of f@rts and tap-dancing. he was on a planet-scouting mission, when he spots earth and says, "that's the place for me!" so he descends and lands across the street from a house afire. he jumps out of his flying saucer and runs into the house, f@rting and tap-dancing in a desperate attempt to warn the occupants of the imminent danger they are in, whereupon the head of the household brains zog with a golf club.
the moral of the story is that communication is fraught with pitfalls.
