It is fun to do 'childish' things, methinks. I still play in snow and in leaf piles, do hand stands against trees, slide down the stairs on pillows, color, play with blocks... I never understood why people have problems with things like that... to me it is fun that they are missing out on. By far the most amusing 'childish' thing I do is engage in food fights. Heh heh heh. The best moment ever is when someone realizes that yes, they have been hit in the face with a fist full of spaghetti. Ah... good times.. good times...

People have weird stereotypical expectations of others. There are two forms of maturity also, which are incorrectly equivocated. Maturity can be emotional fortitude and having qualities like patience and the ability to wait in a line for more than five seconds without honking. The other form of "maturity" is basically that which some people expect to go along with the other, that is, not having fun or playing with toys because "toys are for little children".

There's also the opposite weirdness around too... parents which consider their 24 year old offspring to still be little children.

The second definition of maturity is so stupid

I do my childish things mainly in private. I have a thing for colouring books. I've got to get me some legos now, you guys gave me the idea.

i used to like to color things in the coloring books unconventionally- hair and grass where each strand/blade was a different hue, psychedelic backgrounds, auras, etc. never a conventional tinting.

It's great having a young niece so I can follow her around on adventure playgrounds and stuff. But I'm not crazy enough to have my own kids just so I can do that more often.

am sure you are a fine uncle to your niece. i am a "great" uncle myself, not in terms of being actually a great person but more along the lines of being an old f@rt.

That's funny. My current colouring in project is a picture of a Chinese girl in front of a pagoda. I've given her light blue skin like a hindu god, and orangey/ginger hair like a bonny scottish lassie. The trees are purple with blue apples.

You are kind. And you are only as old and as flatulent as you feel. ;-)

There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to do childish things. One of my favourite comics at the moment is Tiny Titans, which is intended for under-10s - I think it's great, because it makes me feel like a kid again.

the blue apples sound delicious, like giant blueberries with a tangy highlight.

and that would be quite old indeed. enjoy your youth, it evaporates with all the stealth of a thief in the night.

The form of play that NT society approves of is really arbitrary. It seems to require paying someone enough money. For example, amusement parks are not considered age inappropriate for adults to enjoy. The rides aren't that different from playground swings when you think of it. Many of the attractions at the "Wet and Wild" theme park involve slides. I never miss an opportunity to use the swings when I'm at the park.

For me, I run around on a battlefield killing stuff until I'm bored. Either that, or annihilating massive space armadas and bombarding enemy planets from orbit with nukes.
