My accent reveals what side of my family I take after, but it doesn't reveal where I grew up.

Ooo! Fun! I love topics like these!

I am sure I have a natural southern accent. I try hard to not speak as such on these forums because I do not want to be looked upon as an idiot.

That's an unfortunate assumption for someone to make. My brother has his Master's and sounds like a good ol' boy anyway. If you're from the South you also know that everyone doesn't screw their sisters, burn crosses or have only 3 teeth. It seems that this is the last acceptable cultural slight it is OK to make in America.

My accent is quite mild compared to some people I know.

People not from New York know I'm from New York. People in New York know I'm from Long Island.

I have the average American Accent that recently began cropping up. It seems in America, regional accents are dying in favor of this standard accent. I also speak in a light Puerto Rican accent when I talk to Spanish people in English, I don't know why. My mom is Puertoriquenho(I don't have the squigly mark n on my keyboard, but as nh is the Portugese equivalent, I use that) and I was raised speaking Spanish. I can speak English perfectly fine, so I have no idea why I resort to that.

My accent is very Marylander, even though I lived in Wisconsin all my life. Oddly, I seen to find a Wisconsin accent annoying.
