I was with my husband for over a year when I decided to get married.

My girl and I fell in love on day 2, seriously :D

Well that makes me very happy! :D. I had to wait over 40 years to meet my beloved.

In my opinion, there is no correct time frame. It all depends on surrounding circumstances who's involved.

After 7 months, we found ourselves expecting our first child.

He said there was no need to marry in order to stay together forever. I disagreed.

I made him marry me for the simple sake of all family members having the same family name and making things legal.

Nothing romantic about it? I know and I don't care for romance.

We are still together after 18 years and, though we sure have our spats, we are mostly happy.

well...speaking as somebody whose cat knows more about the subject than i do, i'd have to say that when the time is right, you will know. the harder part is getting your partner-to-be to agree.
that's the thing though, she's the one who brought it up

i'm the agreeing party in this case :) .

My husband and I were together for 6 years before we got married and I still feel like we were very young (25). At the same token, my mom and stepdad knew each other a whole 3 weeks before he asked her to marry him and they've been the most loving couple I've ever known for 26 years.

Sounds reasonable.

Yes. You should wait at least a year or two.

If you and her are meant to be, then there's no point in putting a time-frame on this thing because you'll be together down the line anyway. And if you break up, then it wasn't meant to be.

Why not? If both your feelings are strong enough for considering marriage, then go for it... in time of course.

Its a silly idea considering you have not met her in real life, that is, planning marrige at all.

After you meet a few times and move closer then it would be a more reasonable thing to discuss.

But really its not until you live with a person that you can really decide, i'm going to buy into this for life.
