My grandma used to pick those mushrooms (of course, they were MUCH smaller than the one - I wouldn't ever have guessed that it could be ever the size of a small housecat when sitting) and eat them. She claimed these were real champignons, perfectly edible, but my mom said these were just some wild mushrooms - "dog's mushrooms", as she called them and dangerous to eat. Grandma never reported any stomach ache afterwards or any other gastrointestinal issues so I guess they weren't poisonous. I don't know if she would want to eat this very mushroom - either she would think it's a great idea to eat this - it was so HUGE - or that there was somehing wrong with this mushroom, no idea. I NEVER ate those mushrooms, shying away from them, as even as a young child I was VERY responsible and NEVER did ANYTHING that could hurt me, like eating something potentially poisonous.
