Then, I have those a lot.
In fact, I had one the other night when I discovered I had many scales for my music exam I had not memorised.

The summer heat causes me to have a meltdown, because I don't like it.

A day. Mostly melting, lessly not. I've had meltdowns get worse then this though. It usually coincides with my depression and physical health and can last up to a week, on and off. Mostly off by the end of day 4, unless another trigger occurs.

lol, you wouldn't believe how much I did that as a teen. that and korn and slipknot. 'Tis why I'm sick of it now. Used to be my outlet as a teen, cause family dysfunction and isolation at school.

EDIT: CRAP! I can't see the names line up properly on this resolution and somehow missed these posts anyways (on forums). >_> DOUBLE POST ACCIDENTAL.

I had a meltdown once, because my brother was teasing me. I smashed my mother's favourite placemat, threw a butter knife at my brother (and missed) and then locked myself in the bathroom and cried for almost an hour. LOL

I don't have them very often... usually once every two months or so. They are triggered by different things, though. Usually stress.

I once, recently, locked my self away from everything and everyone for three days.

I made my family believe I was sick and asked them not to come near me because they might catch what I had.

My husband took over with the kids and called my boss to say I was sick.

I didn't really understand why, except that it was a time that the feeling of being misunderstood, by everyone, escalated to a point of no return.

This happens repeatedly to me, but never has the feeling lasted that long and, hopefully, never again.

Usually, I only need to be "with-in myself" for anywhere between 30 minutes to a couple of hours tops.

reading the above definitions, I realise I do experience them, mainly of the shutting-down-and-staring-at-the-opposite-wall variety, mainly associated with feeling down lately but I had a flatmate until recently who I found immensely stressful to live with. Fortunately, she's moved elsewhere now :P

Loud noises cause me to have a meltdown, because I can't hear myself talk.

In every meltdown I have ever had there has been a contributing factor of either sensory overload or mental overload (e.g. being in hyperfocus too long). Then an emotional/relationship/expectation-stress trigger sets off the meltdown.

A meltdown (in my personal lexicon) is a tatrum-like volcano eruption. Any time I feel trapped - emotionally, physically, financially, etc - I am primed for a meltdown.

Working in offices where I see the same coworkers day after day, esp if there is flourescent lighting, causes both migraines with auras and melt-downs. I no longer try to work in those environments.

Solitude is my remedy.

Sleepless nights cause me to have a meltdown, because I need my sleep.

People crowding around me causes me to have a meltdown because I get flustered when there's too many people talking to me at once.
