He was hit by a car. Wouldn't survive surgery, anyway.

Thank you for caring.

Crow, that is very sad. We had a beloved dog who was hit by a car and a family friend found her after she had already died on the road. Thinking of it can bring tears to my eyes. You have my sympathy.

I very much dislike small dogs, however...

I don't mind whatever their size, they all make me go softhearted. We had a Doberman when I was little and he was very protective of me. I could play outside alone and he wouldn't let a soul near me. He was a very good babysitter and really intimidating when he needed to be.

I got a purebred German Shepherd puppy which is what I've always wanted. If all goes well with him I might get another dog. My top choices would be a Doberman (intimidating guard dog which I like but they're kind of ugly) or a Siberian Husky (beautiful dogs but I heard they're difficult. The ones I've met were very well behaved though).

Oh I think Dobermans are majestic. Their posture is lovely. We had a Siberian Husky when I was a teenager. He was beautiful and intimidating and made an excellent guard dog, but he just wasn't very bright. Big beautiful blue eyes but nothing behind them. It made him difficult to train. He also shed a LOT. His hair was everywhere and we were very good about cleaning, but it still got all over the place.

I am most definitely a dog person! We have a spoodle (cross between a cocker spaniel and a poodle). She is a small dog, but she thinks she's a big dog

I have two chihuahuas named Ringo and Riley. They're probably mixes because they're on the larger side, but I wouldn't know because they were both rescues.

Yes, I always read that they're not really interested in training and don't care about pleasing you. I've met highly trained ones though.
