I don't have a middle name. My parents were going to use Olivia, but then they realized my initials would spell COW so they dropped it. And they couldn't think of anything else that felt right, so they just didn't give me a middle name.

Rose lived forever. XD
Despite her children Kathleen, Joe, John, and Robert.
I guess you always have the chance of that many not living for a long time when you have 9 kids...

I've been given 3 names (plus 'duh', a surname of course) and now I'm confused what exactly my middle name is here. I go for.. Ruurd.. for the other two form my first name basically.. well, sorta.

I don't have a middle name. It's not very common in Germany to have a middle name, though some people have a double first name, which basically is two first names joined by a hyphen and used as a unit. Examples for that would be Lisa-Marie (for a girl) or Hans-Peter (for a boy). Mine is just a simple first name, though.

And how do you call a person of such a name? Lisa-Marie or just Lisa?
In Poland we don't have double names like that - I think Anna Maria is an exception but I'm not sure... there's for example such a singer, Anna Maria Jopek but she as well may be just using both her first and middle name not just the first one, I don't know myself. Some people do it but I find it weird. I once had a teacher who introduced herself as Małgorzata Ewa not just Małgorzata and another one who referred to herself as Ryszarda Ewa not just Ryszarda. Strange.
In our country we don't say "middle name" but 'second name".
