jm = first two initials
nixon = surname
95 = last two digits of the year in which I was born

It's pretty straightforward, and my username on any site I am a member of.

Awesome, I wondered if it had anything to do with Moog theremins. 8)

"Dunbots" means "thunder" in Basque. Thunder is cool, and Basque is my favorite language, so I picked it as a username since I'm bad at making up names.

Fudo is the japanese name of a buddhist deity found in some buddhist practices in india, china and obviously japan. Fudo is one of the Myoo or 'wisdom kings/kings of light' he is not a buddha.
Fudo literally means 'the immovable one' (though like a lot of japanese words it is quite ambiguous) and is sometimes referred to as the destroyer of delusion.
depictions of Fudo, invariably show him wreathed in flame, holding a sword in one hand for cutting through delusion and according to some sources, the unfaithful, though that seems a bit mean lol.
in the other hand he holds a rope, said to be for binding demons. normally portrayed as a fierce old man he is nonetheless here to help those seeking enlightenment, whilst foregoing the luxury himself, as such he is depicted with a servants hairstyle and 2 protruding fangs, one pointing to the heavens and one to the earth.
i use Fudo as a pseudonym because i find him fascinating, i admire what he represents and i like fire. also the syllables in fudo translate as my surname. generally nowadays i just like Fudo a lot, he's cool in my book.
recently discovered there is a character called Yusei Fudo in yu-gi-oh, which is unfortunate but nevertheless i like Fudo a lot.

Didn't they have 3 brain? one in there head, one in there hand and one giant one that linked all of them together.

Oodain: I found the Ood very relatable and sympathetic, too. Great characters. :)

Fudo: I really like that, thanks for the details. I didn't know the part about the servant's hairstyle and the fangs. I don't know much about the Wisdom Kings. It seems like they're sort of fiercer versions of Bodhisattvas. :?:

When I joined WP, I was in the tenth grade and taking a World History class. While I was thinking of a username, I remembered a recent lesson about various Enlightenment figures. My username is homage to the 17th-century French philosopher Rene Descartes.

they're quite interesting, but fairly confusing .. depending which source you read there are 5 or 8 myoo.. then Fudo sometimes gets grouped as 1 of the 13 buddhas, i find it quite confusing so just stick with the immovable one, after all he's not going anywhere.. hehehe ahem
i think the myoo are roughly known as protector deities, kinda 'lower' than Bodhisattvas but still quite revered by some. found a couple of links. http://www.onmarkproductions.com/html/myo-o.shtml this is quite informative concerning the myoo, still a bit confusing i think but anyway..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Womb_Realm wiki article attempt s to explain the 'womb realm' but i don't exactly understand :?
seems most deities mentioned have more limbs than Fudo ?8O not sure the significance..
enjoy :)

Wow, that was a fairly thorough primer. Thanks for that. Very interesting.

Their many arms remind me of the story of the Bodhisattva Guanyin in which she was overwhelmed trying to understand the suffering of all people, and her head split into eleven pieces, which were turned by Amitabha Buddha into eleven heads so that she could hear and understand them all and continue on her path to save them. So Guanyin tried to reach out to help all of them, but there were too many and her arms split into pieces, which were then turned into 1,000 arms by the buddha.

The story was originally based on the Indian story of (male) Avalokitasvara, though, and the many-arms theme seems very common in Indian religion, so the connection is not surprising.

From your link:

Quote:
...the Myō-ō are the messengers of Dainichi Nyorai, and represent Dainichi’s wrath against evil and ignorance.

I like that idea very much. I follow a more pacific approach (though you probably won't see it much in my ramblings around WP ), but there's definite appeal to that way.

And apparently the Wisdom King Gozanze:
Quote:
Carries "Arrow of Mercy" to shoot at people who stray from path toward enlightenment.

That would be a very good motivator indeed. I wonder if I could hire someone to stand in for Gozanze for me. :chin:

The third brain sounds like Jung's collective unconscious. I don't know about the other 2 brains. Are you saying one is the social brain? My interest is piqued, I might google these Ood things.

you're welcome, i like a great deal to share interesting information, much more so if it's appreciated.
and wow! lol, your knowledge is impressive, so much i don't know.. the story of Guanyin made me think of Amaterasu, pretty much unrelated but the thought came to mind anyway, when Susanoo torments Amaterasu and she seals herself in a cave, leaving the world without divine light and then various deities try to tempt her out. not sure why that came to mind, but better than some more intrusive thoughts.
it's odd, these wrathful beings, especially in buddhism. generally i would think and feel that almost all aggression is 'bad' but i find myself liking these heavily-armed deities, i think because they protect 'wisdom' and destroy delusion rather than just 'kill or convert'

Gozanze is a pretty bad mutha too ;) http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File: ... _Myo_o.jpg i think the other two in the picture might be Daijizaiten ???? and Daijizaiten?s consort Uma ?? , but they could just be two folks in the wrong place at the wrong time.
would've replied sooner but had an informal appointment, in hindsight i shouldn't have bothered going. :/

One name is as good as any other I have found. I think I was on a whitewater rafting kick at the time, though somebody mentioned at the time I created the account about the waste gates at the morgue. I thought that sounded cool. It gave me a darker edginess. I might try barcalounger next time.

My user ID is the common name for a classical spanish guitar piece that I enjoy playing. The originating author is unknown despite the fact that over time the piece has been attributed to several different composers, thus the Anonimo (Anonymous).

To me, the name is symbolic because I consider myself a very passionate and romantic person, although I have been single for many years now. The object of my romance is as of yet anonymous
