Disagree, excellent satire! :)

Does someone really want me to explain why this is funny? I hate explaining a joke but why do so many people not get it.

I feel like I get it but find it difficult to describe most humour. Must be common with a lot of Aspies.

Please provide your interpretation of it? :)

Okay, I would like to amend my post--only moderately funny, sorry on third reading less funny.

1. The first time I read this I appreciated the shock factor, it was just so over the top.
2. I didn't find it offensive since I am not religious.
3. I like the directness. There is no pretense of subtlety anywhere.
4. A serious scientific agency trying to "kill god" which is a religious concept is funny.
5. I like the language usage: for example "He" as a capitalized pronoun.
6. "He destroyed the Challenger shuttle, killing all seven crew members, including Christa McAuliffe, a special operative who had been given orders to seduce and then strangle God with garrote wire" talk about turning a tragedy into bizarre hyperbole!
7. "a certain reverence for the deceased deity pervaded NASA headquarters" after all the trash-talk against god than this irony!

This article is just moderately funny, not nearly as clever as most other Onion articles.
It does seem as though The Onion is losing a little bit of cleverness though recently.
I really like the satire on the Onion because the direct in-your-face language and the dry humor.

It was just this morning that I was like, what does NASA stand for again anyway?

Interesting. @_@

Anyways, uh, everyone is blowing it way out of porportion. It's either funny or it isn't. To me, I found it kind of funny. The onion's only funny if you don't read it everyday, though.

I think the Onion is funny. I read it every day. Although, there are a lot of days when they don't post stories.
You make a good point. Sometimes when you overanalyze humor it is no longer funny. Someone specifically asked me to explain why it was funny, so I did my best to accept the challenge. I did notice the first time I read it I laughed, wheras the third time it didn't seem so funny.

I like the Onion. They are not prejudiced, really they make fun of everything equally
This is not their best by far, but was still amusing

That is something I always like about The Onion`s general sense of humor
