When I hear the word Pedophile, I think of dirty old men with an interest in little kids.

That's what I consider a pedophile. I looked up the DSM criteria years ago & it's a person who has a sexual interest in prepubescents. More than a few sources explicitly mentioned sexual & that the kids the pedo likes are younger than 13 & prepubescent. So a guy in his 40s who only likes young teenagers is not a pedophile but an adult who is sexually interested in prepubescent kids under 13 would be.

What if a 12 year old had boobs and pubic hair and a woman's body? Then the man isn't a pedo then because the 12 year old is not prepubescent.

What if a ten year old was getting boobs? Not a pedo then if someone is sexually attracted to her.

And I guess the loophole is if the young child has precocious puberty and some sicko is sexually attracted to her, he isn't a pedo then unless he is sexually attracted to other kids who are prepubescent. But it's very unlikely a pedo will be sexually attracted to a precocious puberty child because that stuff turns them off.

Someone make up a word for people who are sexually attracted to precocious puberty children.

I was just telling my mum about that today.

And yes, it is full of abject rubbish. Reading that is probably a bit like eating baby food as an adult. Yeuch.

In my honest opinion, if you are an adult and are dating anyone under 18, you are a pedophile. I know that people like to argue about the technicalities ("It's ephebophilia not pedophilia! Huge difference!"), but personally I see no good reason why anyone should pursue a relationship with someone who is not equipped to handle all the responsibilities that sexual and romantic relationships entail.

According to your logic someone who just turned 18 yesterday dating someone who will turn 18 tomorrow is a pedophile. I'm 39 and I can tell you for a fact that I'm not equipped to handle all the responsibilities that sexual and romantic relationships entail, so every woman I've dated must be a pedophile.

I guess when someone turns 18, they need to dump their 17 year old partner and wait until they turn 18 and then get back together.

By that logic I was a pedophile last month for crushing on Miranda Cosgrove but now that she's 18; I'm not a pedo. I don't get why physical age is soo important. I known some 15yearolds who were smarter & a lot more mature than some people who are around my age. I feel like I'm 13 sometimes so by this logic any relationship I get in would be pedophilia; an adult who dates me is a pedophile because I'm mentally younger than 18 in some ways & I'm a pedophile if I date anyone younger than 18. Age standards are arbitrary

I think she meant biological age, not mentally, emotionally, or socially.

And my ex acted like I was ret*d because he said he felt like he was with a child than with an adult.

But yet when I tried to throw it back at him by saying I feel like I am with a teen and don't want to hug a teen etc. he said I was playing a game. Hypocrite. I didn't really feel that way but I was trying to show him how ridiculous he was being and how it feels.

You should of said what Peter Griffin said to Lois when she called him childish
"If I'm a child that means you're a pedophile, and I'll be damned if i'm going stand here and take this from a pervert."

Many 18 year olds are not equipped to handle those responsibilities. Many 20 year olds aren't. Many under 18's are. In fact in the past people were having children commonly before 18.
Every situation is different, being strictly dogmatic is pretty narrow minded.

That's the problem though - an 18-year-old boyfriend who took photos of his 17-year-old girlfriend could legitimately be called a paedophile here in the UK, as anything sexually explicit featuring under-18s is classed as child porn. Even a famous newspaper has had to destroy all its archive photos of models over the age of 16 (and thus sexual consent) but under the age of 18.

Same law here in the USA, except in some states where the age of consent is 16 or 17. There are many cases where a young couple in love will get in trouble for being intimate, if a parent of the under-age partner gets mad. Perhaps even when they might have met while both 16, and been dating since, then one turns 18 before the other. All of a sudden, it becomes a felony (major crime in a US state carrying prison time), as opposed to simple "unlawful sexual intercourse" (a misdemeanor or not a crime at all, depending on the circumstances). That's not fair in my opinion, but it's the law.

It's not like that in Louisiana. No one has a problem with an adult being with a kid unless it was rape or gay. My coworker said there was nothing he could do about the 23year-old his 14year-old daughter was dating. My neighbors went to the cops about the 19year-old their 13year-old daughter was with & they refused to do anything even thou he was getting her into trouble with drugs & other things.

A 23 year old dating a 19 year old? Four year age difference and someone had a problem with it?
