I read somewhere that this might be to do with the Army starting to use British instead of Danish bacon.

Oh, by the way cdfox7: I e-mailed BBC Radio Merseyside's show and nothing came of it, it wasn't aired. The show seemed to be full of whingers moaning about the eeeevil Tesco development.

While I can't say much about the British variation of Marmite, I quite like the New Zealand variation (sold in NZ, Australia, and the Pacific). It's definitely an acquired taste.
