No, that's something for which my inner-pedant will not allow.

And mine cannot help but wonder why you placed a hyphen between "inner" and "pedant"? :P

I have problems with spelling and with similes.
I try to make what I type as transparent as possible.
How ever I haven't found a reasonably priced syntax, grammar check program.
If you find one post it and we can all benefit.
As for following the rules the English language brakes its own rules so I can only look at them as general guidelines.

No; I need to see and spell all words correctly, even if the spelling "looks" wrong or peculiar. I especially hate seeing deliberately misspelled words in trademark names, such as the car brand "Inifniti". I fantasize about going around parking lots with a pair of snippers and a box of chromed plastic "Y"s .

"inifniti" infiniti infinity more irony.

Did it myself the other day spelled Neanderthal wrong and stated I "mispelled" neanderthal.
Forgot the extra s, but it is a result of typo's not caught in many cases, as I'm thinking it was for you here.

Invariably though when there is a topic on misspelling, ironically people do it when talking about it. Although, I think it happens all the time as a result of typos, etc.; we just notice it more when talking about misspelling.

I became very accustomed to spell check taking care of my typo's, and forget it is not in the background when posting here. One really had to pay attention to this back in the days of manual typing. It was a real pain to have to correct errors. Now we have become spoiled by technology.

I wonder if anyone copies and pastes into "Word", to check their spelling and grammar. It would be easy enough to do, but I would hope most people understand typo's are more likely to happen without it; I visually scan my writing, but it's hard to catch one's own mistakes with a once over scan. I often catch them after I post them, and quickly edit them, if I catch them quickly enough.

Shame on you, "pedants"! Have you not any knowledge regarding the definition of "irony"?

Situational irony: an outcome that turns out to be very different from what was expected.

Could also be described as Murphy's law, Coincidence, S*** happens.

However in context, although I'm sure it was just a typo/coincidence; being frustrated by a word being misspelled and misspelling the misspelling of the word, would commonly be understood as an outcome different from what was expected. One would commonly expect a person writing about the necessity of good spelling to spell correctly when writing about it. But, sh** happens! :)

Verbal Irony is always intentional, but situational irony is often not intentional and can involve circumstances and actions, including writing and speech.
