Sorry, but what follows is more than slightly disgusting. If you are eating, or about to, go no further.....

When I first left home, I had no money at all. I lived on benefits/welfare, which meant I could only afford cheap food. Really cheap food. Including meat pies with negligible meat content. I bought a steak pie (Lidl or Netto, I think) which was anything but steak. I hit a lump of fat/gristle so huge that it stuck at the back of my throat. I thought I was going to choke. My response was to throw up. I have no idea why I didn't just open my mouth, but I didn't. Sick came up through my nose before I got sense enough to open my mouth and not care about the consequences. It went everywhere and the stinging 'taste' at the back of my throat and back of my nose was utterly disgusting. That's a memory which lingers. I have not bothered with shop-bought meat pies since.

Even a small bit of fat or gristle is enough to make me nauseous and not want to eat the rest of my meal. That is one reason why I can't handle the texture of meat.

Bananas, the taste the texture and the smell. I actually physically heave when I smell banana. I was on my break at lunch once and there was a woman sitting at a different table eating a banana and I could smell it so strongly that I had to leave the canteen else I'd puke.
Also the white bits of skin on oranges that get stuck to the fruit Whenever I have an orange I sit there for over half an hour just peeling it and making sure there are no white bits left on because they're are so horrible when you bite them.
And fat and gristle on meat, I have a similar story to Pratchettfan (Except I didn't puke out my nose 8O ) Anyway I'm a poor student and I brought some very cheap Asda's own frying steaks, I didn't notice until I started eating it but there was a massive vein or artery in it (I hadn't seen it because I'd put fried onions and gravy on top) and I didn't notice until I bit into the artery! It was the most disgusting thing ever, but luckily I wasn't physically sick.

Cheesecake.

:eew:

I'm not crazy about soup, or hot drinks, either.

The general areas of food + cooking are where the majority of my quirks lie.

I can relate to that. I was horribly picky. I refused to eat any vegetables or fruit. I think I survived on sodas, juices, sweets, chocolate and plain burgers - no bread/bun or anything on it/near it, just two or three grilled burgers on a plate. Oh, and no-one could use vinegar or tomato ketchup while I was eating. I still won't have either of them in my kitchen.

i detest catsup!! ! i forgot that one. and the smell of wet mustard makes me feel ill (like if it is on a dish in the sink).

and i was also that picky. i would sometimes refuse to eat lunch and my mom wouldn't let me leave the table. so i sat there from lunch until suppertime, or i would sit from supper until bedtime.

The processed, non-whole wheat, white bread you buy in the store. When it gets soggy, even from the saliva in my mouth, it forms a doughy texture that sometimes makes me want to hurl. Other than that, I can and have eaten just about anything at one time or another.

Pineapple fruit... The juice is better but I mix it with other juices to get it to go in... Something about pineapple is too strong.. also apple and pears.. Any meat other than seafood.. And anything that has gone too cold and hard to eat.

Edit: oh and corn :eew:

I absolutely hate the texture of liver and kidney. I think these may have been a contributing factor to my decision to become vegetarian. My father also likes ox heart And tongue meat sandwiches! As far as I'm concerned that's just not normal behavior. And considering I'm far from normal myself it must be bad lol

I had a run-in with some sausage this morning. It's really put me off of it. It's not the meat texture that bothers me, it's the skin. I want to gag just thinking about it.
