I like Marmite, Vegemite, and low-sodium Miso - when spread thinly, each has its unique flavor. Too much, and the all taste awful.

Yes miso is very good, I like it in soups/broth.

i make welsh rarebit (family recipe that is probably not authentic). would you just spread a little Marmite thinly on the toast before putting the cheese sauce on?

and your cat made me SQUEEE. that is all.

I would spread the toast with butter and marmite, then top with grated cheese and then grill. Or do the same with a cheese and marmite toastie in a toastie maker. You could also add some baked beans (Heinz) to a toastie. Nom.

The cat is very squeeish, but not mine, just from the internets. I don't have photographic evidence of my cats.

Marmite is brilliant, old chap. Try it guv'nor! Tally ho and all that!

Nah, we're not like that, but most of us do love marmite :)

Have it on toast, of course, or even on a cheese pizza like my friend did.

so thereotypes aren't true.... except that they ARE true? BWAHAHA!! !!

seriously though, i am just trying to be more open-minded about cuisine, especially from cultures i appreciate. for example, right now i am eating canned lotus oatmeal pudding-stuff. it tastes slightly better than it sounds. *slightly*

It make great gravy
If your going to make gravy with it best using five spice or Worcestershire sauce.
Use it a make a stock out of it from the gravy.
Also marmite gravy made with onions and guinness, IMO goes great with sausage and mash 8)

You can add boiling water to it and make a cup-o-soup style marmite drink

Just as a variation from spreading it on toast

Some people like marmite with peanut butter in a sandwich. Not brave enough to try that myself.

I  marmite, but it is so strong I only use tiny dabs on buttered toast. It's also good on crumpets with melted cheese.

Yes, but whatever you do, don't put very much on. A fairly small amount will suffice - otherwise it becomes entirely overpowering and just becomes unpleasant.
Absolutely - you'll blow your tongue off!
Definitely a "less is more" thing.

Also, it's rather good with honey as a spread for buttered toast. 8O
One of those WTF? combinations which works really well - but use a small amount of Marmite.

oh god. crumpets.

when i was pregnant with my daughter 17 years ago, i ate crumpets with butter and peanut butter every single day. needless to say, i gained a lot of weight and had to eventually desist. i've told my daughter the story and she refuses to even try them as she thinks she will get too fat. she thinks that.... if she liked them in the womb, then she'll go crazy for them now!! !

Spread thinly over butter on toast, is best. I'd go for wholewheat bread; your mileage may vary. It's very salty, so have a drink handy.

I would recommend having a bucket nearby. That way when the overwhelmingly rancid disgusting flavor causes you to violently throw up everything you've eaten for a week, you'll be ready.
