I hate to break it to you, but your mental wellbeing is NOT our responsibility. It's a public forum and we're all entitled to say what we feel. If you feel WP is harmfull to your happiness, why don't you leave? If you are depressed, confused, and/or suicidal, there are professionals who deal with that sort of thing, and I would encourage you contact them.

Yes. In real life and here. Life tends to be a mixed bag... a little bit of everything. The negative just seems to linger in memory much longer.

Quite a lot of people have treated me well - my wife, for instance, and my good friends (it may have helped that one of them is an absurdist comedienne, and takes my sense of humor in stride). The world as a whole, I have to say, hasn't really treated me any worse than it treats anyone else - as an old saying has it, no matter how good or how bad your life, there are something around a billion people in China who couldn't care less.

On the contrary, this forum gives me hope.

I think you need to keep in mind that on internet support forums you are generally going to hear more negative than positive posts, and WrongPlanet is populated primarily by younger individuals with AS/ASD who are stubborn in their perceptions once they form them, and are not very good at consoling each other.

Don't let them get to you. There are plenty of happy, successful people with AS/ASD

Crybaby? Try joining another forum in which forum members are doing vicious in-fighting.

That's very true, but I wouldn't say that I've become depressed as a result of this.

I have to say that I found out about Asperger's and this forum on the social anxiety forum I'm a member of and this place is actually much more positive and people post tips and there seem to be some chipper people on here. I rarely visited the other one because it was a lot more depressive over there.

That is a fallacy. EVERYONE feels pain at some point in their life. It is part of being human. It may be different than your pain but no one is immune to it.

Everybody is different. People with AS are individuals, just like everybody else. We only share some common traits.

Not dangerous, just infuriating and upsetting when you stumble upon people's tales of how their life is so much better than your's. So yes, just turn off the computer and then it's not true :D
