For me life would be a heck of a lot easier without sarcasm, than with it.

I wouldn't say bored to death, but it would certainly be a lot easier if there was less of it.

Says the man with an ironic avatar...

But I agree. Sarcasm isn't bad but there's a lot of bad sarcasm. And hipster irony is the worst.

My avatar is just a gag, a humorous way of showing that my brain is wired the wrong way, like so many others here. The irony I'm talking about is this hipster BS where they think it's cool to pretend to like something they don't actually like. Nothing is ever genuine with hipsters. They don't genuinely like anything, they only like whatever they think will make them cool. They'll buy a faded retro Star Trek t-shirt, not because they ever gave a crap about Star Trek, but because they want everyone at the coffee shop to see it. I almost feel sorry for them, because such a person must be completely dead inside.

Yes I like a bit of sarcasm myself GG ( gutter girl) my gp in aspie like fashion was gabbling merrily about golf to which I respond but yes it's the sport of choice of the right wing prick he thought it was funny.

Also his going on holidays I asked him what airline are you flying hope it's not Tiger airways it would probably be safer to actually ride a real live one he thought it was funny * (that airline has been grounded due to "safety concerns" I'm a bit skeptical never has an airline in this country been grounded , after recenlty reading "Dirty tricks" by Richard Branson you would be to , you would be amazed to what lengths airline s go to sabotage their rivals , though not sure if I trust him it could be nothing more than a whinge.

Have you forgotten GG that aspies don't get sarcasm apparently (at the risk of repeating myself) when I was seriously unhinged under a "who would you like to meet thread" I said I wouldn't want to meet any of you you are all annoying overeducated over achievers I've got nothing and I've even got the George Stannza shirt to prove it ! I've taken a pick of the shirt I shouldn't be so lazy and post it

* had to be their joke he was probably humoring me :P

I can't make it through the day without being sarcastic. At work I asked someone for some tape and they asked me "what kind do you want?" and I said "The sticky kind". And this is cold but.......one time one of the guys at work passed away in his vehicle out in the parking lot just before he was supposed to come in to work. All I could think of to say was "I guess he really didn't want to come in and work today".

Thats just the way I am *shrugs*

What is the difference between sarcasm and dry humor?

I made a coment though wasn't intended to stick it to you guys under a "who would you like too meet most" thread I said I wouldn't want to meet hardly any of you most of you are in awe of the good looking or highly successful monied members I wont have a bar of it.

I got some biters, some accused me of necro posting to stick it to you all ,, well not really I was just stating a fact, good looking members who are successful here get the most attention or am I mistaken?

Sarcasm is all about irony. It’s saying “nice weather we’re having!” when it’s pouring rain outside. It's saying "oh, great!" when you get a flat tire. Deadpan humor is... well, I’ll just copy and paste Wikipedia’s description, since it’s a pretty good one:

Quote:
Deadpan is a form of comic delivery in which humor is presented without a change in emotion or body language, usually speaking in a casual, monotone, solemn, blunt, disgusted or matter-of-fact voice and expressing an unflappably calm, archly insincere or artificially grave demeanor.

The article lists an example from the movie Falling Down, in which Michael Douglas destroys a phone booth with a machine gun and calmly says, "I think it's out of order."

I get tired of it if someone uses it too much because then I have a hard time taking them seriously.

But I use it myself. I have humor so I do jokes and I also use it to get my point across. I have no other way of expressing my opinions in a non sarcastic way. I also use it when I don't like something.

Good looking young members with better (online) social skills/extroverted personalities.
The latter probably contributes as much as anything to the attention given: the more one talks, the more one gets noticed and the more opportunities one has for interaction.

Yeah, yeah, we also have sense of humour, no imagination and no creativity.

I hate sarcasm. It's used by mean-spirited people to make themselves feel smarter, but they come off as douches. It is also the laziest form of humor. The best comedians never use sarcasm.

Sarcasm reminds me too much of the way that Raymond is treated by his brother in Rain Man. That's why I hate it so much.
