I totally agree.

In most cities I would completely agree with you. But I live in Las Vegas. It was 112F today while I was riding. I don't think it's a stretch to imply that anyone waiting for a bus, or walking to catch one in temperatures like that would only do so because they have no other alternative. Again, I am not trying to say that every person who rides the bus is destitute. It's just that when it's hotter than the deepest pits of hell outside, odds are if you have an alternative, you'd use it.

In some towns it's not financially good in the long term to own a car or drive one to work in a town which charges a lot for parking.

My sister and her partner for example both work for the government, very high paid jobs and they both bus to work.

I don't carry expensive stuff on the bus, that's an excellent way to get mugged. Are you sure they weren't knock-offs?

I wish I could commute to and from work with less stress and hassle while using public transportation - I'd leave the car in the garage and use it only on weekends.

But commuting more than a few miles in the Los Angeles / Orange County area via public transport is fraught with situations that are not suitable for an Aspie prone to panic attacks in crowded and noisy places.

At least when I'm alone in my car, I can scream without causing a scene...

My mom is always complaining (and always has) that she is barely going to make her rent, the electricity might be turned off, she missed her car payment...all the while smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer (or 6). I've never understood that. In fact, it really pisses me off sometimes. I know other people that are the same - can't afford rent, call me to 'borrow' some money, and then see them on facebook out in clubs, drink in hand...I don't drink, but last I checked a beer is a heck of a lot more expensive than a soda!

No offense intended to anyone here, but I really don't understand spending a ton of money on a brand name. All that is is a person created a purse with the same fabric another is made of, puts a high price tag on it and 'sheeople' go crazy over it. It's capitalism at it's worse and it's sad that so many buy into it, whn they could be using that money for freedom - freedom from debt, freedom from a job they hate, etc.

Hahaha! ShenLong, you are so right. :0) I suppose with any "wrong" we want to point out in others, if we turn it around on ourselves, we can see more truth in it. :0)

People usually wear expensive stuff due to "social status"
Basically they're just saying "look at me I can afford expensive things so I must be better than everybody else"

Yeah, I'd only take my car if I know there's free parking at point B. I drive my car to work everyday but work is only 3-4 km away.

I've never had any trouble with public transport when I'm in the cities though.

And I too doubt the authenticity of that Chanel bag. If I had a bag like that I wouldn't take it on public transport, out of fear of tarnishing the bag.
