Apparently Nigerian and Russian ones are popular but there have been several arrests in the USA of blokes pretending to be attractive women to run this scam.

It's fascinating in a horrible car accident kind of way.

Unfortunately you can match the fake profiles on the front of dateyard.com to the database at romancescam.com - but romancescam only includes profile photos - unfortunately the profile photos are often stolen and the actual person in the photo doesn't know what they are being used for. Romancescam has a forum http://romancescam.forumup.org/ where people can talk about it.

The scammers know they're being blacklisted - some of them seem to have gone as far as setting up alternate scams - like the russian translation services. I guess they will (have?) set up their own free dating sites too. Yikes. You can find out what the ip of a website is by putting the url in the "ping" field on the dnsstuff.com page. Then you can put the ip address back in their geo locator.

I’d never describe it as spam-full,
Only ever had one,
At the time it seemed fun,
So below I’ve included a sample:

By the time he took ill,

Now he die and leave me no plan

Please mustn’t take any longer,

So this e-mail I happily greeted,
With laughter that ‘Winston’ so feted,
Would spam me with these,

E-mails I’ve promptly deleted.

Oh, I keep getting these e-mails saying "be a hero in bed" and "increase your p@nis length by up to 3" which is rather ludicrous given that I am a female. Even if I weren't, I would still think these e-mails were bunk.

Yes, I have also had some from Nigerian scammers and I always just delete them.
