Turn the volume up so you can hear the continuous rumbling distant thunder in this one... Believe me, it's not jets flying over, it's all thunder. I've never heard anything quite like it. There are a few good lightning bolts as the storm gets closer.

Storms are interesting. Didn't care too much for being near a tornado when I was working at a fireworks tent this summer though.

Oh come on, don't be so hard on everyone. We're aspies after all. I mainly said that as a reminder, not that it has to be mandatory. Back and forth discussion is nice, but I realize I'm not always very good at taking interests in other people's stuff.

Last year I went through a phase where one of my minor obsessions was fashion in Victorian England. I wanted to make my own costumes and even looked into joining a local steampunk group. I was more interested in men's fashion though, and wanted to crossdress as a Victorian gentleman.

Dinosaurs in general.

According to my mom, one of my earliest obsessions was dinosaurs. I don't remember any information I learned about this obsession, though I do remember adoring the Land Before Time movies and owning a lot of dinosaur-related books and toys. My younger brother and I even had a mutual imaginary friend who was a Tyrannosaurus Rex named Empanaedus, who we referred to as "Empy".

Cool. I've had a recurring fixation with the Latin language for a few years, but not so much with Greek and the furthest I've gotten in Greek is learning and relearning its alphabet occasionally and memorization of the derivations of Greek that occur in English combination/coined words. Latin is rather fascinating to me though and each time I become fixated in it I learn a bit more.

I enjoy Victorian-era fashion as well. I always seem to get some sort of warm, fuzzy feeling whenever I think about the Victorian age. That's probably because it makes me think of warm stories such as Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. I remember, when I went to Michael's once around the holiday season, they had a display of a Victorian village around Christmas time, and I really wanted the entire collection to display in my house.

I noticed that you said you liked anime. My favorite anime is Sailor Moon. I also like Detective Conan (known as Case Closed in North America), and I briefly got into Fullmetal Alchemist a couple of years ago.

Thinking about the Victorian Era gave me warm, fuzzy feelings too - primarily due to the fact that two of my major obsessions last year, the movies Sweeney Todd and Alice in Wonderland (2010), took place during that time period. Got to hand it to Colleen Atwood to create gorgeous costumes!

I never got into Sailor Moon, although I do like the character Haruka Tenoh/Sailor Uranus because I bear somewhat of a resemblance to her physically speaking. I tried to get into Fullmetal Alchemist, but it just didn't stick for some reason. I've seen a couple of episodes of Detective Conan/Case Closed, and I thought it was pretty good. If you like that, you should check out Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok, which is pretty similar and has an added twist of Norse mythology.

My brother is interested in guns, and for awhile his favorite was the AR-15. He stopped liking it after too many kids at school started talking about them. He's one of those people who has to have unique interests...

I kind of figured that was your new special interest by your avatar. I remember you saying that after your baby was born, you went through a period of time when you stopped obsessing over A League of Their Own and didn't have a special interest anymore. I really sympathized with you because I hate it when I go through periods of time with no interest. So I'm really glad you found something new to occupy your mind! :)
