Apparently he killed his nephews because they were actually illegitimate claimants to the throne, like his supposed bro (I remember watching this doco with Tony Robinson, aka Baldrick, that said that some historians have postulated that Richard's brother has been sired by an archer, and there is evidence that his infamous hunch-backed portrait was altered to be that way). However, I like to think that the events of "Blackadder" occurred, and the Richard IV was crowned, and was just cut out of history by Henry Tudour.
