That would be illogical.

That would be Empire.

They're conceptually quite different, at least originally. Star Wars is a fantasy trilogy of films about the American War of Independence and feudal Japan, while Star Trek is a set of two or three skiffy TV series (and some films which oddly only have even numbers) about contemporary politics.

I am a big fan of both but I think Star Wars would win. The spacefaring civilization in Star Wars had existed for tens of thousands of years by the time of the movies and is far more technologically advanced (most of the galaxy being in communication with each other). You look at Star Trek and most of the galaxy is inaccessible due to long distances. Most civilizations present have existed for at most a few thousand years such as the Borg. The population in the Star Wars galaxy is probably magnitudes greater than in the Star Trek galaxy as well

Star Wars also has Jedi & Sith who would tear the redshirts a new a**hole. It would be a redshirt massacre if a Sith got on board a Federation ship

Star Wars, definitely.

It really is no contest. The Empire is a type III civilization, whereas the Federation is a type II civilization. It's not that the Empire is more advanced in technology, but that their numbers are far, far greater.

Basically, the difference between the Star Wars universe and the Star Trek universe in terms of scale, not technology, is equal to the difference between a small country today and a coalition spanning the entire solar system.

There's no way to prove that the technology in Star Wars is any better than that in Star Trek, but I'll say this. The Star Wars planet Coruscant became a huge city 100,000 years before A New Hope. The hyperdrive was adapted from the ancient Rakatans and the galactic republic was formed 25,000 years before ANH. In contrast, Star Trek takes place only a few hundred years after today's era, which would put their recorded civilization at only a few thousand years old. In other words, if the battle of Yavin happened today, Star Wars was colonizing worlds like Star Trek when humans lived in caves and still had fur. Now, just judging by time here, the Star Wars technology should be much more advanced.

But, the fact that I've thought about this so much is only evidence that I am a fan of both universes, and sci-fi in general.
