When I was around 5yrs, I was attacked by our dog pretty viciously. He went for my throat but I tensed up and he got the side of my face and my shoulder instead. I was out of school for a week, and was terribly afraid of dogs until about a year ago. The dog was my dad's father's day present one year. He wanted a specific breed of dog, but my mom didn't want to pay for a registered breed so she went and got a pit bull mix and told him it was something else. I guess I was looking into his eyes, I just reached down to pet him and he went for it. My mom wanted my dad to kill the dog, but he just took it out to the woods and left it.

I was almost killed by a dog when I was 3 (my mum told me about it). I was running about playing in my uncle's garden, and his Alsation (who was an unusually vicious Alsation) went for me, and if it wasn't for my uncle diving to grab it before it went any further, I would have been dead or seriously injured.

My uncle had to get rid of the dog after that, because his wife was pregnant and so he didn't want the dog to be the death of any children.

I had appendicitis in second grade. I don't feel a lot of pain, not as much as nts do, so I sorta ignored it. Later I was rushed into the er with peritonitis and a ruptured appendix.

I fell off someone's back in gym class doing the piggyback. Both of us broke our arms, same place, same severity. Somehow she started to bawl like hell. Me? I Packed Up Her Bags and waved her goodbye, while I stayed in school for the rest of the day until I mentioned it to mom and she got me to the er. Not thread related I know, but just thought i would mention it.

I'm not aware of ever coming close to death unless being electrocuted by power outlets is easy to cause death which happened on 3 separate occasions when I was plugging or unplugging something as a kid. I also came close to committing suicide when I was majorly depressed but I never started to attempt it

Once I got swept downriver by fast-moving currents and nearly fell into a large drop-off. I've overdosed on a cocktail of prescription drugs twice. I was once so anorexic my heart was skipping beats and I was going in and out of fainting (I'm 6'1 and was 82lbs.).

Just another example why idiots shouldn't own dogs. (Not you, your parents.)

OT: the closest I came to being killed was when the neighbourhood psychopath tried to strangle me. Back then I only had a couple of classes of BJJ and I just barely managed to slap on a messy armbar. It worked though, leaving him with a painful hyperextended arm.

When I was 9, I choked on a hard candy until my vision started going dark. I probably would've blacked out if a man hadn't given me the Heimlich Maneuver when he did.

I've also attempted suicide a couple of times, but I was terrible at it so I didn't even come close to dying those times.

I was toying with the idea of suicide, five years ago the end of this month in 2007, but I went through a black Punk period instead of taking my own life. I took a break from life instead of killing myself. I started to live again in the September of 2009.

My grandfather liked to tell the story of how I had went into my granny's pasture when I was little and he had to jump the fence and save me from the bull that noticed me. I probably would've only been 3 or 4. When I was around 7 or 8 and couldn't swim, we were at the lake and I was riding in a peddle car, on the dock of the lake, and backed that car right into the lake. Fortunately, my mom was close by.
