Do you hate the smell of oranges and iron?

I absolutely despise the smell of oranges... I live in sheltered accommodation, and two or three of the staff insist on bringing oranges into my home even though they know the smell and sight of them makes me nauseous. I can drink orange squash but other than that I will not go near an orange. I prefer subtle smells, if a smell is too strong for me then it makes me ill. I know some people who love the smell of petrol (gasoline) but I can't stand it, it's overpowering.

I hate the smell of iron! But doesn't neurotypicals do too?

I really don't like the smell of oranges because they remind me of orange juice and when I was little, I couldn't swallow pills and had to have liquid Zoloft mixed with orange juice and it tasted terrible. I don't like the smell of iron either.

TheSilentOne - I can't swallow pills properly if they're not sugar coated. My throat closes up.

I can swallow them now, but I have to have something like milk or iced coffee to swallow them with. I can't swallow them with water because then I can taste them.

I LOVE the smell of oranges! I have a bottle of mandarin-scented liquid hand soap in my bathroom, and it smells like orange Life Savers, mmm.

I'm a bit surprised so many people hate it. There's nothing quite like the smell and flavor of a really good, sweet and juicy orange... which I haven't had for so long.

TheSilentOne - I've never really been very good with medicine of any kind, I wouldn't take calpol as a child, had to have disprol instead as it was a less harsh taste, way before I was diagnosed with aspergers.
