Instructional non-fiction any day...

I generally prefer shorter things like instruction booklets that come with an electronic device or the help file of a software program, but have read a few 200-600 etc page books on things like programming languages, statistics, business, etc...

since there wasn't an option for instructional reading material, I selected non fiction - scientific

I should have remembered to include Agatha Christie, Lovecraft and Edgar Rice Burroughs and Elizabeth George and Martha Grimes on my previous list!

I read some 19th and early 20th century fiction, but prefer history and biography, and have many art, craft, construction and DIY books. I generally dislike any kind of fantasy, yet treasure my few slim volumes of H.P. Lovecraft.

full on high fantasy for me. LOTR, Hobbit, Dragonlance, conan. i dont read anything else.

when i read, i want to read a story. i want that story to be appealing and what appeals to me is dragons, warriors, magic and adventure

I clicked on fantasy because I do love it as a genre, but my favourite is actually dectective. I imagine a lot of aspies probably like DF because it appeals to our logical brains. There's a lot of other things that might have been included such as Romance or DIY.

I don't enjoy reading but when I do, I like to read non fiction about controversial topics such as secret societies, evolution, fabled artifacts, and extraterrestrials.

Terry Pratchett
Neal Stephenson
Tad Williams
but I read all sorts, usually 4 or 5 books per week.
Sometimes I will read a couple of books in one night, so I have learned not to be too fussy about genre..

Sci-fi/fantasy is my official favorite. But I also like science nonfiction- four of the seven I just got from the library are of this genre. I also like ancient myths, not sure what category to put that in.
