I previously lived in a block of flats 17 floors high and some complete moron thought it funny to release golf balls from a window on people arriving/leaving the entrance. I nearly got hit by one so I called the police because that behaviour could have killed someone.

holy sh-t. some of these made me laugh like this one, ouch. haha

maybe he had just got back from golfing and had a box of golf balls next to his window and they accidently fell out. because one ball shifted in the box, causing them to fall

They were being dropped singly probably by the same person who would urinate in the lift.

I've been a victim of drive-by litter assault, on two occasions that I can recall, both in my late teens, and on my bike...one was being hit in the neck by a scrunched-up soft drink can (one of the edges was sharp - could have caused some serious bleeding!! !) the other time was when I was biking past a McDonalds, I saw out of the corner of my eye a carload of other youth driving out of the parking lot, revving the engine and yelling profanities, and when they passed me I was pelted with garbage, soft drinks, big mac residue, fries, etc, it made quite a mess and as they sped away they were still hollering "f*** you" and "suck my ***k".

To paraphrase a previous poster, it makes me wonder who is REALLY the sick one in our society!! !

This was in the 90s when video surveillance cameras were not as common, so despite my having thought of the possibility to catch them and get their license number, there were no cameras in sight. Besides, I'm pretty sure the police would have told me that they don't have the manpower to investigate drive-by litter assault (only drive-by shootings, I guess.)

I still wonder if they targeted me b/c they noticed odd motor skills and glazed expression, or if it was entirely random.

I haven't had stuff thrown at me as a pedestrian, but I have had an egg thrown at my mum's car while she was driving it. Also had my car egged three times in less than a year, as well as it being broken into. Suppose that's what I get for parking on the street. Not like I can park anywhere else, though.

^^^ This.

I have had a lot of awful things happen to me, but nobody has ever thrown anything at me so far. The people around here are usually very considerate of pedestrians and bicyclists. Which is one of the reasons that I moved to Northern Germany.

Nobody has egged me or my car thank goodness, doesn't that stuff ruin the enamel?

I have had someone commit spray paint vandalism on my car before. Luckily it washed off.

When I was a teenager, I saw the infamous fire extinguisher prank played on a passersby. They'd stop their car and pose a question to a ped, like asking for directions. They'd then open the valve on him. It was popular to steal one of these from school.

Oh, say in the last few years, I was driving my truck to work, and I crossed a one lane bridge and the road opened to two lanes right after the bridge, and a car quickly jumped into my lane and tried to head on me. I stayed in my lane and he jumped backed into his proper lane at the last second. 8O

I was watching him in my rear view mirror as he passed, and lo and behold the trouble maker was looking for more trouble with me. Once he passed he jammed his brakes on, jumped out in the street. starring at me, breathing fire through his eyes at me in my rear view mirror. He postured himself there, standing, to fight me now -- in essence he played chicken with me and he lost. He looked mighty scared when he passed by me.

I wasn't sure why the car dived over at me at that time, and I thought he was 'ticked' because I may have been a little too far over when I emerged from that one lane river bridge. But our son said no to this idea, and said it's the popular thing now to play this type of chicken with a car.

They're called food drive-bys and they're popular with the idiot teenager crowd. I've been pelted by a wendys drink before. Didn't catch the license plate sadly.

I'd be sure to get the plate if I could, do some research, and then make sure to give the local glass and body shop some business. It could be a lot of work to track them down, but that sort of thing shouldn't go unpunished.

I've never wrecked another person's property, but in this case, I'd heavily consider something like that.

Since you never got the plate, I guess you could only hope that great misfortune befalls them.

Whenever I used to go outside on walks at nighttime people threw stuff at me quite often. I've been egged, water bottles have been thrown at me , I've been drive by airsofted twice (ran like hell, the car turned and looked for my friends and I but we booked it and jumped in some bushes every time it came back to look for us. One time when I was 13 just walking around with my friends (they were across the street from me) a car pulls up with 4 guys in it , one of them gets out and tells me to empty out my pockets ( I had a zune, a video camera, and a phone, so I turned around and walked away casually. The guy got in the car and they drove off). Little did I know the guy had a big knife in his hands (my friends saw it), luckily I didn't get stabbed, but its sort of funny that the coward trying to rob a teenager did nothing when I walked away from him like nothing happened :P,

Now whenever I'm outside at night and I hear a loud car I get scared and start running., I realize how stupid that is but my mind convinces me I'm in danger, maybe this is because of all the stuff that's been thrown at me but idk haha.

I wouldn't take it personally, but I would definately report it as soon after the incident as possible. Giving the cops at least a description of the car and the area they were in could help them pull over the right people.

I remember back in high school, there were kids who would go egging. They mainly egged stop signs and mailboxes, but sometimes they egged cars of people they didn't like, and occasionally they egged random people walking down the street. They would go buy a few dozen eggs and make a night of it. Other times they would buy the eggs a day or two before and let them sit out in the heat to spoil so they stunk. It's amazing what passes for fun to teenagers sometimes.

I also knew a guy who liked running over garbage in alleys. Sometimes people who didn't have metal garbage cans would sit bags of garbage out by the alley on trash day. They would also sit bagged leaves there. He would drive up the alley and get to about 20 mph and hit those bags of garbage or leaves and it would go everywhere. He did that until somebody wised up and put a concrete block in the bag with his leaves.

I'd recommend carring some loose change to retaliate.
