Do you think 1990 has more in common with 1968 or 2012?

Jesus could have been born in 10 BC or earlier (unlikely, but slightly possible) so arguably the 21st century might really begin as early as 1987 or so.

I thought he was born in 2 AD. I swore I read that somewhere so why did they start counting the years two years before his birth? And how did they even figure out how many years it's been? They didn't start the years until the 1500's.

I would think the year 2 AD would have been retroactively determined to have started ONE year after the birth of Christ. The year directly following his birth would be 1 AD, the first year of the calendar. There would be no zero year. He'd have his first birthday at the end of the year 1, near the beginning of the year 2.

I remember 1990 very clearly and it was very similar to today, in my opinion. The only difference I can think of is in the technology advances and pop culture (for me anyway). The 70s were very different, as were the early 80s. The world seems very similar to how it was by the late 80s.

Yeah watching video footage from the late 1980s, outdoor scenes look more or less the same as scenes today, aside from the shape of the cars on the road. The 1980s also seem to be the time that our language started to become casually profane and formal dress was pretty much completely dead outside of politics and hotels.
