Teehee, I've just read the OP again. First line - 'For people that live in the US'. Apologies for the gatecrash.

^^ Greetings everyone. I believe this lovely test informs me that I possess the following American accent:

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Northeast

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.

^^ I believe that perhaps my happy accent may be considered as a little Yorkshire accent and perhaps also a little unusual also.

I'm Canadian and I got the Boston accent. You definitely have a Boston accent, even if you think you don't. Of course, that doesn't mean you are from the Boston area, you may also be from New Hampshire or Maine.

With that being said, I don't believe that I have a Boston accent. My accent is more Canadian than anything.

Here's an example of a Boston accent:

Here's a Canadian accent one:

I'm Pa Dutch but I speak fairly normal. When growing up some of the kids from surrounding towns had some pretty strong "Dutch" accents. (Pa Dutch accents sound like someone from Germany.) Today the accent is dying out because the locals no longer speak German as much as the did back then.

Is Pennsylvania Dutch only an Amish/Mennonite thing or is it just an overall regional language as well?

Your Result: The Inland North

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

I am from the Inland North, and I do speak "standard English straight out of the dictionary", and I don't drink carbonated drinks.

I got Inland North too, and I'm not from there. In reality, I seem to be a mix from all over, instead of speaking standard English. I think I picked things up off of television as a kid that I thought sounded good and made myself talk like that.

Well I got North Central on that test, I guess it makes sense geographically but I didn't really think I have a 'Fargo' accent. I guess you can't hear your own accent but I dunno.
