It's not a political discussion, but you felt the need to inject politics. Quit with the splitting and realize that there are fine people on both sides of the isle and many more standing in the middle.

LOL, I am not an American.... so I didn't mean conservative "politically".... but only specifically to this subject. Back off of me or I call mod.

BTW, I'm quite leaning towards right-winged myself....

Then I apologize. As you can see, things have gotten kind of crazy here in the US. People are at each other's throats over the dumbest of things when they should be working together and compromising. I've had enough of it and whenever I think I spot people falling for the "choose a side" BS I just want to slap em around and talk some sense into them :P

Hey man I glad that was a misunderstanding.... You see in US you have two parties right? Conservative and Liberal. Here we have no such thing, so it didn't occur to me when I wrote it. Personally I couldn't care less about politics, hence why this is in random discussion. Just me being a bit defensive 8)

Yeah, politics is just another excuse for people to throw s**t in each other's faces. And some people think we didn't evolve from apes. LOL. If I had my way I'd live by myself or with a small group in the middle of nowhere and not have to deal with politics anymore.

Come on down. I'm thinking a place in the smoky mountains would be good. Either in Kentucky or Tennessee. Maybe do some terrace farming if there's not enough flat land. Raise goats and/or sheep for meat, wool, and milk and raise chickens for meat and eggs. Also I don't think I could live without pork, so we'd need to raise some pigs. Then whenever a red meat craving hits we can go hunt some deer.

That's interesting, because I live in the United States, and have never heard that expression used in my entire life. 90% of the cars driven here are automatic, and 10% would be for off-road vehicles such as Jeeps that would have manual transmission. Some of the newer models of Jeeps have the " option " of automatic.

You'll mainly only hear it from the douchebags that like to put mod kits and underbody lighting on their cars and pretend like they race even though their car has and will never touch a track.

I guess there's the same amount of automatic and manual cars here. When brand new the manual ones are always a few $'000's cheaper than the autos. My car is an auto, I've never even been behind the wheel of a manual car.

I think part of the desire for a manual car is that it more resembles driving a rally car or race car that way (you know how some guys use their car to make a statement about their masculinity). Hooning around seems to be more fun for people when there's gears to change :?

I always thought a manual transmission is only better if it's in a fast powerful sports car. Otherwise, there isn't much of a point to it. Learning to drive one is easy though, and not being able to sounds like a chick thing.

They're obviously better in a sports car because you can rev the engine up really high to the redline before shifting, and also down shift when you want for more power.

Many, many cars here are stick shifts. Some are expensive luxury type sports cars, others are trucks or just regular cars. Most guys I know can drive a stick, I've never really given it that much thought.

I had a Mustang when I married my husband that was a five speed and he couldn't drive it to save his life. I tried and tried to teach him but he just couldn't seem to learn it. When he had to drive a work truck that was a stick, one of his co-workers taught him. He drove the little Mazda truck that was a stick that his Daddy left him for a long time, but he never really got the hang of when to shift.

When my oldest was 12, I taught him to drive in that little Mazda truck and he picked right up on it. I guess it's better if you learn when you are young.

I really prefer it because it's more of a feeling of driving than just gas and steering wheel. You are more involved with the whole shebang than an automatic.

The first Mustang I had, had a metallic clutch in it. Try that on if you hate a stick shift lol. Thats the one I learned to drive one on. My left leg was slightly bigger than my right for several years lol!

I approach it this way: if they actually kept the must-drive-stick clause in the driving tests, carmakers would be content to fit the cars with more economical (and slightly cleaner) manuals in parity with autos. Well, think about this: how many people do you see texting in manual equipped cars? IMO all SUVs should be required to have manuals and have no way to charge or power their phones. Maybe less pedestrians would lose their lives to vehicles

It seems to be like the guys who drive sticks would be the gay 1s because they are handling sticks more
