I don't eat spicy food all that often, if I did it would probably kill my insides. I enjoy getting my chinese and sometimes indian food spicy and I LOVE hot chicken wings! It usually takes quite a kick for my to find a meal spicy as well. I don't like hot sauce though, I always find that to be more bitter than it is spicy.

Spicy = awesome - I grew up on curry, since the local ones are celebrated. I like to taste the flavours though so I tend to go for dishes with a variety of spices (my favourite at the moment is lamb masaledar) rather than just loads of chilli, though pathias can be great. I like thai, mexican and indian, and tend to stick jalapenos in stuff that they weren't in to start with at home. I've lately got addicted to a spicy jerk sauce with scotch bonnets that's great on sandwiches or for dipping pretty much owt in. 8)

When I was younger, I'd eat spicier and spicy stuff, it was a phase I guess. Everything had to be super spicy, covered in hot sauce. Now as I've grown up, I've toned it down, but usually like 4-5/5 at a Chinese or Thai restaurant is like "Oh, that's just right." So I picked "That was spicy?" Under the poll, as I just don't notice when other people say "THAT'S SO SPICY."

I've been told I have an iron stomach because of the spicy stuff I can eat.
I'll sometimes drink a packet or two of Red Devil hot sauce by itself. (to me) it's just a little spicy and it tastes good. My coworkers acted as if they drank magma when they tried it. I've only once found something that I could not finish. It was a wing sauce I tried down in North Carolina visiting my brother. I only managed to eat three wings before it became downright painful and had to stop.

I can relate to that in a different way. I can't stand spice, but I loooooove sour. I eat lemon slices as though they're orange slices (such as when they put the slice on your glass of water at a restaurant.) Other people take the slices off their cups and I go, "Are you gonna eat that?"... Then I eat it. And everyone stares at me (unless it's my family or my boyfriend, who are used to it.) I once had a funny moment where the waiter saw all the empty lemon wedges on my napkin, then came back with a small bowl full of lemon slices. I told him, "Aww, you didn't have to do that!" He just looked at me wide-eyed ( 8O ) and said, "Oh, yes I did."

My friendcrush, a diagnosed Aspie, cannot tolerate spice at all.
I remember we were at a restaurant before the homecoming dance and I was pouring loads of Tabasco sauce over my salad, and he just stared at me like I was a masochist.

I have a very low tolerance for spicy foods. I don't like the burning sensation in my mouth, and I can't eat them anyways, because of the type of incontinence I have.

I like spicey food as long as it is actually nice.
I won't eat it if all it does it burn, but things like chilli are good.
Or corn chips / salsa / sour cream, that is good too.

I think I'm relatively sensitive to spicy foods, however, when it's done right, spicy food can be delicious, even if it kills my mouth.

I grew up in south Louisiana & spices are very big here because of the Cajun ancestry. I like some spicy food but I don't like things that are extremely spicy

I never knew why I liked spicy food, maybe it is indeed related to a high pain threshold, I recently learnt that spicy food increases serotonin and that got me thinking that maybe I like it for that reason, after all spicy food and chocolatre are two of my favourite things. As far as being ticklish I couldn't really say, I have not been tickled but I do like to touch my hands with a slight caressing motion since for some reason I get this uber ticklish sensations that feel kind of neat but as far as I know that only happens on my hands, haven't really tryed it anywhere else.

Canis major, are you naturally redheaded? If you are, Google mutated MC1r. I wrote a psych paper on red heads and the MC1r response, I find it to be very fascinating stuff.

As for hot foods, I was very sensitive to spicy foods when I was a kid. I have always greatly preferred sour things over spice.

As I've grown I've become less sensitive and started using small amounts of jabanero sauce in my food. On a related note, I found that soda used to burn my throat to the point of tears as a kid. I've outgrown that as well.

I love strong, natural flavours in general, so I love almost any kind of spice.

This doesn't just extend to spices, I love things like limes, coffee that is 5 times stronger than it is supposed to be (cafecito) , and extremely rich chocolate usually 70% or more (if it's under 50% cacao, it doesn't go in my mouth).

People who have been stupid enough to copy me with some of things I do while eating out (eating a lime whole, or eating a whole jalapeno stuffed with cheese) have often regretted it.
