Though I am part ninja (mother's side), my true alliegance lies with the lord of these lands. His kindness over the years, coupled with his offer to have me wed to his 2nd daughter (a lass of exquisite beauty, to be sure), have made him as much a member of my family as my own blood parents. It is my role to direct the operations of his troops, and to preside over the decisions of his generals. Other than that, I am the maester of His Royal Academy, where I train aspiring soldiers.
