Cockneyrebel: Is forward about his Britishness, even though most resent the British as much as Americans.

Fnord: Very helpful for concerns such as job interview issues, always has good debates, good sense of humor.

ASComposer13413: Good taste in games, upbeat nature and very friendly.

I very much agree. These types of topics just reminds me of picking a team for P.E and leaving others out. Despite all having issues (particularly social) people are still putting their thoughts out there for many to see. So you all deserve some credit for that.

This topic was meant to be nothing like that. It's not about picking favorites or class president or anything like that. It's a thread to say something nice about any specific person you choose to. I would imagine that if someone is going to pick specific posters, then those are posters they have posted in threads with and something stood out about them.

Saying something nice about one person does not diminish the others. There are so many posters on this forum that it would be impossible to notice every one of them. I don't usually remember everyone I post with unless I see them over and over in threads, or something about them stands out. Sometimes something bad stands out to me about someone, sometimes something good stands out to me about someone else. I started this thread so that when anyone here notices something good that stands out about another poster, they can come and post it if they would like to. It's sort of a way of giving kudos on your personality.

I think it's a good thing to not only read something good about yourself, but also to make the effort to say something good about someone else. Contrary to what some people may think at times, a person making a special effort to praise another person, doesn't make them purposefully leaving others out. If I were to be reading this thread and want to be included in it and I wasn't, then I would look at myself and see what I could do to raise others opinions of me, and I would do that.

There've been a couple of surprises in this thread ... I'll just say that I never expected some of you to say anything nice about me.

While I'm not going to go all "Sally Field" on you, I will say that it's nice to know that you admire me ... you know who you are.

Vexcaliber: He's stuck up for me on more than one occasion, even when we disagreed.

Cockney Rebel has always welcomed newcomers and been understanding of those going through rough times due to Aspergers/Autism issues.

I do disagree with you on a number of things but not absolutely. There are some things that you're correct upon but only to a certain extent. On the other hand, it doesn't mean that you're my sworn enemy who I want to fight. I don't see you as my enemy but you have standards that I do believe need to be challenged, questioned, and examined.

I do admire that you were able to go into the military, pass the psych tests. and complete basic training. I do admire you were able to fight in actual combat which is high stress and you have to be able to think on your feet. You would have to be able to come up with solutions instantly. I believe you are telling the truth and I choose to believe it unless proven otherwise. You're innocent until proven guilty in my mind.

How were you able to do all of this? This is a literal question. It is so amazing to me. Clay Adams was able to serve and command a squad as well. How were you guys able to effective to do these things?

For me, when an environment is noisy I end up missing part of the instruction or I think a person says one thing when they said something else entirely. I'm always having to have people repeat themselves all of the time especially when a noise occurs. Did this happen with you? If so, how did you overcome it?

In addition, when I'm in various situations, I don't know what I'm supposed to do sometimes? Fnord, you were able to overcome all of this. How did you do all of this including doing the marching drills in Basic Training? What were your tools and techniques?

How were you able to get into the IT field? How were you able to obtain the hierarchy of the workplace in particular? It is said one must start at the bottom. Where is the bottom? How did you determine where to start especially when every job requires multiple skill sets and each skill requires years of experience? What were your tools and techniques? What were your specific and concrete methods that you took? You were able to figure all of this out. I admire you for that.

cubedemon6073, the simple answer is adaptation. He was forced to adapt in order to survive....there were no accomodations in the past. What I'm shocked about Fnord is that he remained a pleasant person despite all that. I was an a**hole after just constant battles with myself, being ignored and self-deprivation.

Cube, what motivated me through all of my military career was the knowledge that the alternative was death, and I refused to give my detractors that much satisfaction.

cubedeomon, he tries very hard to adapt and work on his weaknesses and seeing the shades of gray.

Yes, I am working on them. I am a major overthinker(working on this too). Here is the thing and one of my greatest fears. Shakespear said know thine self be true(paraphrasing) . In my quest to adapt do I end up losing who I am? Do I lose my identity? What is the thing that makes me me? What is the essence of I'ness and the self? How is one true to himself? Is death preferable to losing one's identity and soul and can death actually be noble and living a lie and being something false be ignoble?

On the other hand, should pedophiles be true to themselves if their true selves calls for them to hurt children? Should those in nambla be allowed to keep their I'ness? If a pedophile tried to molest your child I think you would want to hurt them badly. I would would as well. In this case, is being oneself ignoble?

This is one of my issues that I have. I am confused. There are so many grey areas. Is there a middle ground to all of this?

Yes ... "ADAPT OR DIE" is the operative motto, and I'm not at all interested in dying.

Now you know why I respond the way I do to posts in The Haven, and why I rarely start a thread there myself.

You are direct and effective in The Haven Fnord, self pity is pointless. Sadly, I am the exception often that posts looking for answers rather than others to pity me. It is an easy place to fall, but a weak one.
