I have quite a bit of a very unique favourite clothes collection, with alot of it I use to make makeshift uniforms so that I can dress as a train engineer, train conductor, bus driver, trucker, Swiss-like cop uniform (with no markings of course, just the shirt, pants and beret)...
SOLDIER:
Canadian Battle Dress (1960s-2000s) BDU pants
Army surplus, light green dress shirt
Canadian Battle Dress Combat Jacket
Army Green beret or cap
Russian-style grey wool ushanka/Military-surplus green toque (depending on which mode I'm in)
Canadian Battle Dress winter parka (made 1980)
Canadian Battle Dress wool fall jacket
Canadian Airborne-style camouflage jacket
(NOTE: eventually, I plan to acquire a Finnish Defense Forces M91 camo set, and a Swedish pattern camo set)
Nice to see someone respect the code in regards to insignia. Too many phony soldiers nowadays. The camo collection reminds me of my closet, only much of mine is German, American and Swiss. The M91 reminds me of a clubber version of the German Sumpfmuster (Swamp Pattern).
Yeah, I prefer not to wear insignia. I know that in Canada, the enlisted soldiers (and their kids too) don't like posers, and rightly so. Also, not wearing insignia makes me neutral, so I don't run into conflicts with people over allegiances or being a poser. However, I mostly dress as a railwayman now. I'm more of a train guy than a soldier, however I do have interests in military a bit. Like my favourite era of study is WWII to the fall of the wall.
