Living in New York sure presents a lot of challenges for Aspies—as others have already pointed out, it is loud, crowded, people can be rowdy (borderline aggressive), work is a lot more fast-paced. I had to up my game when I got here; it was not easy. That being said, I still think New York can be a great environment for us. A few observations:

- New Yorkers are direct—no beating around the bush when talking with you. You're expected to be direct too (amen)!
- People don't tend to chitchat you in stores/subways/on the street/whatever.
- Even though you're surrounded by millions of people, it is surprisingly easy to get time alone. Apartments may be tiny, but most will respect your privacy.
- New Yorkers are willing to embrace your quirkiness (if you first embrace it yourself.)
- Lots of resources and support are available for Aspies (apparently—looking into it these days.)

And Manhattan is beautiful at 3am the neon and lights.

I've been thinking of taking an old friend there that I went to school with. The problem is that I don't have the means to do so. I'm short on money.
