Yes, sort of, I guess.
The obvious one is "to continue to lose weight" -- I have a pair of trousers that were feeling snug a year ago; now, I am swimming in them. I daresay that I've lost 6" around the middle, if these pants are any indication. My doctor is very pleased about this. So while I still have a ways to go, it's a good start.
But I've always thought that a New Years Resolution involves a change of habits or behaviour. To stop doing something you shouldn't be doing, or starting to do something you should be doing but aren't. Stop smoking, eat more fiber, take more walks, whatever. So the above doesn't count, as it's merely doing more of what I have been doing.
On the other hand, I have decided on a special project for this year. I am a pack rat. I keep stuff around that I don't need. And now, as a result, I'm running short of storage space where I live. My place looks like a war zone half the time because I simply don't have enough places to put my stuff. (Echoes of a George Carlin routine are going through my head now.) I have boxes of junk that I don't need or use. I have clothes that I haven't worn in ages, including possibly as many as 100 t-shirts that I never wear. So, this year, slowly and methodically, I am going to go through my closet and my dresser drawers and my in-suite storage area and everything else, and get rid of what I don't need...
Starting with my bedroom closet. Clothing will be sorted into three categories:
- Clothes I wear
- Clothes that are in good shape but I don't wear
- Clothes that are not in good shape.
The first group, I keep. The second group goes to charity. The third group gets tossed.
(Wish me luck.)
