Gotta say fashion was easy then. I was born 80, so luckily I had the Grunge-style at my puberty, Boot Cut Jeans with squared chopper-shirts ..., Doc Martens, ... so even as a woman you were not forced to torture yourself with nonsense like High Heels or such stuff. I really liked it. Additional a bit of hippie style.



I am questioning myself if we talk about the same century. Couldnt remember any of such stuff. At the beginning of the 90ies you had that extraslim stretch jeans style with sport socks and jogging highs and if you were really, really, really cool ^^ you had a pilot-jacket (With a "Antifa" logo on it. ^^) or an Michael Jackson leather jacket. My sister was born 1976, so she got full into that style. So around the last years, you also had that stretch-jean style, but its already fading since 1-2 years. So dont see many young ones anymore with that stuff.

And then later the grungestuff was coming, as said: Doc Martens, long Burlington socks, cosy cloths, chopper suits, .... and the hairstyle was simply: uncombed. XD The cool one had dread locks. XD Gotta say, never again was it that easy to obey the fashion tyrancy.

I would love it, if that came back, but except the squared chopper suits, I cant compare it with your list?

Edit: Ah, I found what you mean. "New Grunge".... I agree, But I refuse to name it a revival. They raped grunge.

I wear the timeless dilapidated chuck taylors, worn and torn classic cut blue jeans and round collard T-shirt combo. Does that mean I'm finally fashionable?

It saddens me that this came about because of yet another bastardization of what Grunge "style" (an absence of style and fashion consciousness) it's supposed to mean.

I generally wear old hospital scrubs and a tank top many places.

Being 'fashionable' has never been of interest to me however culture and style is.

As for the sheep who dress like the 80's because it is 'back' well really how bad can things be? I admit that this century has little to offer by way of the new and interesting but the 80's? come on it was the worst dressed decade since world war two!

I wear what I find comfortable and it is generally black.

As far as revivals go I think if you like a period or style genuinely and find pleasure or comfort in it then go for it but please if you dress like an 80's poser or a 60's lovechild or even worse a damned 'rocker' - get the behind me devil, don't darken my vista with your tastelessness

If I could afford it I would dress in genuine 60's mod/skinhead styles and feel very sharp indeed.

There doesn't seem to be much "fashion" where I live. Just the standard jeans+shirt and whatever else thrown on (hat, different shoes, a jacket, etc).

Personally, I wouldn't mind if people started getting more creative, like people in Japan. They do themed outfits and everything. Crazy.

Exactly. Every so often, the stuff I buy in thrift stores is suddenly available in hideously overpriced versions in stores where they don't even sell my size, and I'm like - luh? Who are these people?

I guess the reason I have an aversion to the 90s is because that wasn't a happy decade for me at the beginning. I don't mind Mod Retro or even Hippie Retro.

People only remember the good stuff about the 1990s and not the bad. Let's not forget...

New fads every 3 months:

Apart fom plastic pop, generic looking cars with soft edges and toy fads changing all the time, there were also BS diets, 28K modems most people couldn't afford, heavy television sets with blocky pictures, boring looking white computers that quickly turned bright yellow because of the fire retardant, all those stupid sitcoms (only a handfull were actually funny), Pringles commercials in every TV break, poor cgi in most movies and VHS instead of Bluray.
