I used to be incredibly picky about this when I was a kid. No foods touching or mixing in any way, or I could have a fit. No sauces, and especially not gravy! I couldn't even stand to add salt. Lately, I just add some sea salt to some of my food. I may use ketchup but that is rare.

If I order a hamburger or chicken sandwich it has to be plain, no sauce. I will sometimes eat pickles on a burger. I like lettuce on burgers, but it doesn't like me. I guess it causes IBS or something.

In the days when I could eat a salad I used to freak people out by demanding no salad dressing. I don't like sauces except for dipping chicken in barbeque or honey, ketchup for fries or A-1 sauce on steaks. I hate even the smell of mustard or mayonaisse. When I was a kid I would refuse to eat food if it was touching. Well honestly it still bothers me a bit, but not as much as it used to.

I like having a bit of gravy on my chips. When I go to Hogs Breath Cafe I usually order Diane Sauce with my steak, but they serve the sauce in its own little saucer for me to pour on my steak myself, thank god.
Other than that, most of my food is in the nude.

With the exception of salt and vinegar on a meal from the chippy I always eat my food plain. Nicer that way. :)

I'm getting used to naked food. I used to use spices, but I've quit over the past couple of weeks.

I don't mind having condiments on my food, but I want to apply them myself. I want to taste the food first before I put anything on it.

I always wonder what is hiding under all the goop. What is all that glop meant to conceal? What is it made of anyways? I don't like when foods are touching or mixed. My husband has an obnoxious (& rather gross) habit of stirring all his food on his plate into a disgusting multi-hued mess before eating it. I think he does it to gross me out & it works! I avoid eating mixable foods with him. Since he wolfs his food down quickly, I can usually putter about looking like I'm preparing a plate for myself or rincing out the pots & pans so the food doesn't stick. Once he's nearly through, I casually sit down with my own carefully separated glop-free food.

You're funny! I completely understand and agree with your point but the way you say it is hilarious.

I'm mostly a purist when it comes to food. I don't like ketchup.
