Any place where I can find geology-related work is an automatic 10. Other places would vary. New York City would get a 10, while Vermont would get a zero (it's in the middle of nowhere and is inconsistent with my lifestyle).

I've never been to Deer Park, but Dallas was okay when I was inside. If you were outside in Dallas it was quite literally hotter than hell.

Deer Park is a suburb of Houston.

I have always heard that Dallas is hotter in terms of actual temperature, but it's drier up there. The Austin/San Antonio area is like that as well.

Here in the Houston area, actual temperatures are lower, but humidity is terrible (but not as bad as Louisiana).

If I were to stay in Texas, I would prefer to live near El Paso, or up in the panhandle.
