No, I have never tried a cigarette. I've never had any desire to.

Never.

It's stinky, expensive, unhealthy etc. There's absolutely no reason for me to even think about trying it.

I find smokers very unattractive. I notice many trash people are smokers. They smoke where they are not supposed to and throw away the butts everywhere. I tend to associate smoking with those trash people and their rough way of life though I'm aware that not all smokers are like that. Smoking has a very bad image.

Trash people and their rough way of life huh?

Why don't you tell us what you mean by "trash people" and their "rough way of life"? Define that for us, would ya?

never have. i get enough 2nd hand smoke as it is. mainly from people who walk infront of me while smoking. I don't get why people smoke and walk or drive at the same time. Isn't smoking normally associated with taking a break? Also I don't like the way people just throw the butts on the ground :(.

I was lucky -- in the '60s-70s I think most adults smoked, but not my parents. I remember smoke in shops, in restaurants, everywhere. Smelled nasty and made my eyes water.

Future generations will no doubt regard tobacco use as a sort of collective madness which took over mankind for a couple centuries.

I think the 1940s was probably the decade where cigarettes were the most popular.

Same here. I've tried everything to quit. Pills, patches, gum, hypnosis, cold turkey, gradual reduction, substitution. Nothing has worked. I did once manage to quit for almost a year. Then one day coming home from work I stopped for a soda. Halfway home from there, I realized I was halfway through a smoke. I think it has just become so ingrained into my mental and physical existence that quitting altogether is unlikely. What is even worse is that I worked as a radiation therapist long enough to see many people waste away while dying from lung cancer. And yet I still can't stop.

I have managed to cut back to an average of 6-8 per day (more on weekends, less during the work week).

No. Why on earth would I want to? It smells (and probably tastes) disgusting, would make me cough, and is incredibly bad for one's health.

Gotta say I'm annoyed at that last one, too. Especially when there's ash dispensers or trash buckets nearby. But then I figure that the type of person who just throws cigarette butts on the ground is the same kind that throws away empty coke cans and candy wrappers. Throwing out burning cigarette leftovers is the greatest offense, though. People and animals can hurt themselves on those.

I had to go to hospital two days ago.
While I was there, I tried to go out for some fresh air.
There's no air conditioning in the hospital, and the air in there is seriously over-breathed and lacking in oxygen.

They have a "fresh air zone" round the front, and big signs asking people not to smoke there - but there were fetid a***holes smoking and stinking the place up because they were too lazy to walk over to a smoker enclosure which was only about 50 feet away.
Like there always are, there.
I know from experience that asking them to go to the smoker enclosure might end up with them telling you to f*ck off, and trying to burn you with their fag.

So, I went round the side of the building. It was really difficult to find a place which wasn't being polluted by selfish smokers getting their fix, but there was a second "fresh air zone" which was adequately far away from mangy smokers, and not in an area with 2000 fag butts littering every square foot of the ground.... so I was hanging out there.

Then a nurse came out (in her uniform) , and stood right next to an enormous sign which declared the area to be a fresh air zone.... and in front of a big window with about 8 more "no smoking" signs, and started lighting up and puffing away next to us (my mother and I).

I started coughing sarcastically, and was like "Did you not notice all of the signs here, or what ?"

And she was all "I do know." (in a condescending tone of voice), while continuing to impersonate a factory chimney stack.

So I started remarking that obviously she was a selfish arse who clearly doesn't give a sh*t about other people then, to have lit up anyway.... since the only sensible explanation for her doing that was either that she's too stupid to understand the signs, or was simply a selfish a***hole couldn't give a sh*t about anybody else.

She got all huffy, and tried to tell me off for swearing at her.... behaving all indignant, even though she was the one being antisocial.

I pointed out that there was no sign instructing me not to swear at her, but that there was one telling her not to smoke... well, 9 actually... and pointed out that if she wanted to smoke without me swearing at her, then she should be in the smoker enclosure and was welcome to f*ck off any time she liked.

She just kept wittering on about how I shouldn't be swearing at her, and I just kept telling her to bugger off or stop smoking ; if she wasn't keen on my attitude.
We were there first, and I was in a wheelchair because I needed mobility assistance after having a procedure done at the hospital.
I think it's the height bad manners for even the hospital nurses to be so disrespectful towards people who are there trying to get oxygen after having a procedure done.

We never thought of it until afterwards, but we should have started taking pictures of her on our phones - with her right next to the signs.
I think she started to get a bit worried that we'd do that, as after about a minute of continuing to insult me and smoking she made a big melodrama queen display of littering by throwing her fag on the ground, while pointedly declaring that I'm "very rude".

I remarked that actually, she was being very rude (what a total hypocrite she is) and started sticking my tongue out and flipping the bird at her - because she was scuttling off, but kept sporadically turning around to insult me.

Aw, I probably spoiled her pathetic fag break altogether.
Poor baby.

I dersay this is the sort of thing that person meant when they talked about white trash people, their rough way of life, and the way that so many of them seem to be smokers.... smoking where they shouldn't be, and having no respect for the local wildlife or other people by being mangy stinking litter louts.

I did give this one lady who was walking past a good laugh at the smoker's expense, though.

I also think that people should be able to go out for some fresh air in hospital 'fresh air zones' without having the scenery blighted by a whole load of people who are clearly half dead from cancer, puffing away on fags.
:shameonyou:
If they want to exercise their right to smoke themselves to death at tax-payers' expense while looking like living corpses then so be it, but they should at least have the decency to take themselves off to the smoker enclosure and do it I reckon.

:-D haha... I'm glad that you liked it.

If she hadn't gone away when she did, then I was going to throw stink bombs at her.
I took some with me specially for this purpose, for just in case they were needed.
;-)
