I wonder if the current popularity of zombie-related entertainment might be tied to the very polarized state of American politics. Certainly there might be partisans of either stripe who could see a menacing, mindless horde of zombies as a metaphor for those who vote for the other party.

(That would also explain why I don't like all the zombie shows and movies. I dislike both parties, but try not to demonize people in that way. I think most people have good intentions, but many are in thrall to irrational ideologies.)

In Trinidad and Tobago folklore, you'll encounter a creature known as a jumbie. Basically, he's the living dead. Jumbi is a West African term for a ghost or spirit derived from the Kongo language word Zumbi.

I just came back from buying 50 cans of red beans from the supermarket. I'm surprised the sales lady didn't ask if I was preparing for a zombie apocalypse.

The whole zombie fad is completely played out. I've gone over and over it in my head and I just can't come up with a way it can realistically work. The closest thing to plausible is the rage virus from 28 days/weeks later, but even that one is a stretch.

The closest thing I also could come up with that would be plausible would be the Common Infected from Left4Dead. A bunch of people who are still living, but who are infected with a virus that makes them highly aggressive and crazy. Most of them 'look' like zombies by having pale skin, heavy bruising/dark circles around their eyes, and bleeding from the mouth and nose. Also the virus makes them stumble about and act lethargic and sickly, although they will attack any uninfected person who comes across them.

I could see those being a possibility too, as it also allows for immune survivors.

*Strokes his hoard of .22LR ammunition*

I'm not all that good in this life; perhaps I'll be good when it's just zombies.

The Walking Dead is slowly pushing me towards zombie burnout.

As a funeral director, I take every chance I get to tie the shoe laces together of the deceased.
Because if there was ever a zombie apocalypse, it would be hilarious
