I'm all most bipolar on doing so Ill catch and release a mouse, but kill a coyote depending on how much harms being done. Strangely, I will bucher my own meat to save money and have better control over what I eat.

The only time I would kill another living creature would be if it was trying to kill me.
I won't even kill a fly.

I kill flies or wasps if they get into the house, but I capture and release other insects outside such as bumble bees and spiders. I trap/kill mice because they are a health hazard. One problem of living in a rural area surrounded by fields of maize is that the mice population grows enormously during summer but they look for somewhere warm to spend the winter. They aren't welcome unless they pay rent! Interestingly there are several feral cats roaming around here; they sometimes sneak into my garage or outbuildings to sleep, but we never feed them, they seem to get a plentiful diet of rodents.

I catch and release the bugs,I use a glass jar and slide a stiff piece of paper between it and the glass to collect the wasps.But when a hornworm appears on the vegetables I feed it to the lizards,they whip it back and forth to tenderize,then they eat it.I use the mosquito BT in standing water for mosquito control,we have West Nile virus here so it's a health issue.
Field rats are the worst rodent pest,they don't look creepy like the big Norway rats.But they chew up power cords,garden plants and maybe the wiring in a vehicle.They build huge nests,some people call them pack rats.We found a nest in an outbuilding that filled the big wheelbarrow up.They do make good predictors of winter weather,every time we have had harsh winters their nests were huge.The best control for them are black snakes.Also known as Eastern rat snake But when the snakes go to sleep for the winter,here come the rats.

I wish I lived in the countryside. I love the nature.

If I lived in the countryside I would have cats to catch the mice.

There are mice in my house at the moment. They've taken the bait from traps without getting caught and have eaten poison like it was cheese. Nothing works.

But I have a cunning plan to get rid of them. We could get an Amazonian giant centipede (Scolopendra gigantea) and set it loose under the floorboards. It would then prey on the mice and keep the numbers down.

The box idea worked.

Fished some cardboard out of the trash- and rigged a little container for that second trap. And after a couple nights -nothing- no mouse- but the bait was not taken either. Then finally...got him.

May still have to call the exterminator, but now atleast I got my money's worth out of both of the two traps I bought.
