Yes, I agree Australia can be a very got place. You guys are competitive with the US.
But spend a summer in the US southwest (California, Nevada, Arizona)
You will find out what hot is. 45C-50C is a common thing.
Then there is the US southeast which may get lower actual temps (40C-45C) but extreme humidity.

I've seen it so hot here in Arkansas that we cooked an egg on a manhole cover. The summer before last it was a 111F which is around 48C I think.Peoples chickens were dropping dead from the heat and I saw birds come to the bird bath for water that never leave the canopy.Even a little grey fox came to drink water out of the yard. But the reptiles loved it,the lizards thrived.

In my city it was 5 days in a row at those temps. You know it is hot when aussies are complaining about the heat.
When mentioning heat from down under I thought you were talking about something else!

I have a friend that is a meteorologist and he told me an interesting fact, the Ark-La-Tex area is one of the hottest places, the combo of heat and humidity. It was 110 one summer when I lived in that area of the state,I'd much rather have dry heat,it felt like a sauna outside. Its not unusual to be in the hundreds, the hottest temp ever was 120 back during the dust bowl years.
