I can't remember a time without a record player, mine has always been used, it's still being used, and it will remain in use.

I have collected records for many years, it is a hobby of mine. There is a special feeling when that crackling starts when you first lay the needle on the turning record.

I have two collectors Rolling Stones albums.
The Through the Past Darkly with the cut corners, and The Some Girls album with all the faces.
There has not been a needle on them in over ten years,no finger prints either.

My parents had one in a low cabinet in the formal living room. When we woke up before my parents, my brother and I would put records on it. He liked specific songs and would dance to them wearing only his white nightshirt. I liked to climb in the cabinet with the record player and close the door. :P I didn't care (or possibly notice) what sounds were coming out of the record player, I liked to watch it go around and around.

sounds like your brother was imitating tom cruise in some movie where he did that.
