I randomly decided to use that as a profile name because I had just watched "juggernaut b***h" on the internet, wich was an episode of xmen which some guys dubbed over the voices and it is really funny. But yes I am also aware of the ritual. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... itch&hl=en

But anyway, no its not ironic. Like I said, its the American worship of entertainment that I hate, not the entertainment itself (except reality tv and shows or news about entertainment). There is nothing wrong with enjoying a certain show or movie. I watch the Office for example. I also like other shows as well, such as King of the Hill. In fact, me and my brothers love to quote the Office because its good for a laugh. But I like them because the characters are funny and I don't care about the actors themselves (important distinction).

The fact that I randomly decided to give myself the name of a character because it was in a funny internet video doesnt mean I worship it. I couldn't think of anything better so I went with it. And even if I was into xmen, (which I'm not) thats not the same as a worshiper of pop culture. Comics have storie and can have good art. Somebody can be a fan of a certain art form (even tv or film), but its the shallow celebration of IMAGE that bugs me. Not the art form itself.

Also, there is nothing wrong with HAVING Academy awards. Its just that I can't stand watching them. If I was an actor or director getting one, you bet I would be happy! But I'm not in any way involved in the movie industry and don't know anyone that is.

As for the Academy Awards, they've added far too many categories for anyone to care about. They split things like scriptwriting and sound into sub-categories that are then meaningless. It's also a publicity/popularity contest. O'Toole didn't win Best Actor, but Robin Williams has ??? George C. Scott had it right, go ahead and celebrate all you want, but include me out.

I respect your opinion, but I love to hear about the daily lives of celebrities, European celebrities that is.

I'm not on a crusade about it or anything, but I have so little interest in popular culture that I have ignored it since the mid-80s. I've never seen "Star Wars" or any of those blockbuster movies. I don't know any songs by anyone after 1987, and I have collected well over 100,000 songs on records and CDs. Never watched "Seinfeld" or "Friends" or any of that prime-time stuff. I went without a TV for sixteen years. When I was given one, and started watching it, I was so turned off by what was popular that I gave it up, on purpose. Never heard anything by Madonna or Mariah Carey or anyone popular in the last 25 years. Never heard a rap "song." I've not played a video game except for "Pong" when it was new. I don't know anyone who's famous now. Someone at work came in to tell me a stupid joke about Tiger Woods, but I didn't understand what was funny about it, because I didn't know who he was. I have come to find out he's just another adulterous celebrity. Why is that news?

I'm not trying to be different, or cultivate an aura of weirdness, or to go against the grain, or trying to make anyone think I'm better than them. I just have a profound lack of interest in any of it. I have all kinds of other interests that take up all my time. Stuff that makes the tabloids is not included.

I refuse to buy any music that's been recorded after 1984. I don't watch TV in the evenings, anymore. I haven't done that for 13 years. I listen to the oldies station, all the time, when I'm not listening to YouTube, CDs or records. I didn't know who Chris Brown and Brianna were, until I've looked them up on the Internet. I'd rather look like the sweet, sensitive 1964-1965 version of Mick Avory, than spike up my hair and wear leather around town, which is a good thing. If God wanted people to have spiked hair, than some people would have naturally spiky hair.

I don't understand Top 40, American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, or America's Next Top Model. The only reason that I bought a Nintendo Wii, is so that I can use it to go on the Internet. I'd rather wear the 1965 Kinks logo, than wear a skater brand T-shirt with the strange image on it. I prefer classic 60s colours, over the neon 80s colours that are coming back in. I'd rather wear Khakis than bell-bottoms. I can't stand the thought of cold legs, or bees flying up my pant legs.

I'd rather be wearing a pea coat or a decent length blazer, than a tie-dyed T-shirt with beads and a peace-sign, which is another thing that seems to be hip. I don't want to be hip. I want to be the Kinks fan that I am, thank you. Oh, and don't you dare walk around town without a purse that has a peace-sign on it. The Longhairs won't think that you're groovy enough. Oh, please. My Mod purse serves its purpose.
